So you're of the opinion that you start spending millions of dollars on security apparatus and personnel for no reason? That sir is a ludicrous assumption.

People are trying to clean up Hitler's reputation daily here, it is disgusting. The Nazis failed to get a bomb due to the drafting of many key physicists and lack of uranium ore. Hitler was obsessed with super weapons and to think he wouldn't want or use an atomic bomb is just insanity.

See my post No. 187 above for the URL for the CIA website page in question.

The thread is stupid and the scientists' beliefs were based on bad science.

So, you actually believe Hoover was President in 1939 when the Manhattan Project started?

Wow, you are really out there.

Another member who hasn't read the whole thread and jumps in with unwarranted interventions. Maybe you should lock your tongue away and open your eyes for awhile to save making a complete arse out of yourself? Or is it too much hard work to assemble the facts before yapping off?

Bull crap Hitler never even had a concept of a nuclear bomb. He wanted nuclear train engines etc. because they didn’t have enough oil

    What?

The germans were well aware of atomic energy and its potential for a bomb

The facts you assembled are wrong. Hoover wasn't President in 1939 when the Manhattan Project began, which is why they didn't ask him. They asked President Roosevelt, who was President, because Hoover didn't have any authority for squat.

And German scientists were pretty damn dumb if they thought a nuclear weapon would destroy Earth. They must have gotten that idea from 1960s Science-Fiction films (and, yes, that's a joke).

Who said anything about when the Manhattan Project began? The key point under discussion was the authorisation Hoover gave to use the atom bomb.

German scientists were hardly alone in thinking that an atom bomb could ignite the atmosphere. This was a fear shared in all camps at that time.

What a freakn joke. Hitler and Stalin started ww2 killing over 100 million people creating a need for an atomic bomb in the first place.

Your uninformed personal opinions of historical reality are cute ---- in a sort of predictable brainwashed sort of way that certain segments of America have become world famous for.

The US didn't develop nuclear weapons until 1945. Hoover stopped being President in 1933.

Hoover cannot authorize the use of something that did not exist.

Wakey-wakey! Try reading the whole thread before making more incursions into an area you clearly know nothing about.
