    Will this turn out to be real? Is this the end of he epidemic? Will all sufferers be able to get the transplant?

    No. There are now two cases including the above were patients have been cleared of HIV following the receipt of replacement bone marrow.

    In both case the 'cure' occurred as a side effect of the patient's anti-cancer treatment. Both men had their original bone marrow completely destroyed via large doses of chemo and radiation designed to kill their cancer cells. The side effects of this are far far worse than the side effects of current gold standard anti-HIV 'triple' drug therapies. Long, long long term this might help with a cure but not yet.
