"An American woman captured by Kurdish forces after fleeing the last pocket of land controlled by Islamic State says she “deeply regrets” travelling to Syria to join the terror group and has pleaded to be allowed to return to her family in Alabama."

Is anyone else here cynical enough to wonder if this sudden outbreak of regret by erstwhile jihadists male and female is concomitant to the recent destruction of Islamic State (or 'the so-called Islamic State' as the BBC is still calling it after 7 effing years of existence  )? Or is it just me? [IMG]

She can return to a prison cell in Alabama, that works.

Sure, renounce the religion openly and all ties and connections and agree to be under surveillance(and make open statements against jihad, encouraging fellow 'fighters' to surrender to authorities), I'd be happy to accept you back.

Indeed, why not fight fire with fire in this war? If we have 'reconverted' people denouncing the jihad, it would lower their morale and increase cooperation for Allied Forces. We should push forward to eliminate jihadism from the entirety of the Middle Eastern world.

That's exactly what they expect us to do, and they laugh in disbelief when we don't.

I think on one point she don't lie :
She regret. But like many people of evil, she doesn't regret what she did, she regret the consequences of it.
She probably don't regret to have joined an organization which commited genocides, threw gay people out of tall building, commited slavery and she probably don't regret to have betrayed her people, the american.
But she probably regret to risk to be executed for her acts.

She commited her crimes in Iraq, she should be judged in Iraq.

Exactly - like the burglar who gets caught in the act doesn't regret the burglary, he regrets getting caught. But loony liberals can't seem to get their heads around that simple rationale. They feel sorry for the burglar? [IMG] :wall:
