Most people think that the Nazis mainly murdered Jews by gassing, in Auschwitz and other death camps. But that's only half of the truth.

The majority of Jews who fell into the hands of the Nazis, during their reign over Eastern Europe, were shot dead by mobile killing squads, the so-called "Einsatzgruppen der Sicherheitspolizei".

Meet Father Patrick Dubois, a French Catholic priest. He and his team researched this long-unknown story:

This was Jews in the East, in the countries between Germany and Russia.
Many of the people living in these countries didn't need much prodding from the Nazis to do it.

In Germany it was all done in secret, but in countries like Lithuania they had no reason to hide it and did it out in the open.

The war was actually multifaceted, with political, ideological, and ethnic tensions, and unfortunately the war partially descended into ethnic genocide.
