It looks like another campaign promise is in the process of being fulfilled.

If people want to come here then they need to do it legally and not over stay their welcome. It is not racist, bigoted, discriminatory or anything else to enforce existing laws that even Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Harry Reid endorsed. The only difference is those people won't be called racists, Trump will.

Exempting "Dreamers" is asinine. Illegal alien parents bring their kids here and then the parents get bust for crimes and deported but their "orphaned" kids can stay here without even bad parental supervision? That's plain stupidity in action.

Glad he caved on dreamers at least. Who will republicans blame when deporting illegals doesn't solve all their problems?

Trump still hasn't made a decision about DACA yet, so considering the relatively small number of "Dreamers" and the much higher numbers of illegal criminals, I'm OK with holding off on them until a decision is made and a policy is worked out. In the meantime, that still leaves the vast majority of illegals as up for grabs.

There will soon be huge illegal alien drives like the great cattle drives of old. Struggling masses being driven south along the great plains.

Well I kind of agree with that decision as long as they aren't committing any other crimes. I mean what real choice does a kid have in this matter if they are brought here illegally as a child? It would be kind of messed up to grow up here and then get sent back "home" decades later when this is the only home you've ever known.

Agreed. IMO Trump will go with the will of the people which the polls (IIRC) show favors a legal status policy.

They've already created a list of 950,000 criminals here illegally, and subject to deportation. Sanctuary city proponents only hurt their own cause by shielding these people. Just like Muslims, the intent here is to separate the wolves from the sheep. It's Trumps goal, and it should be everyones goal.

Well they picked up that one guy last week who was in DACA, but who was also associated with gang activity so as far as ICE is concerned, that disqualifies you for DACA. So I imagine if you are in DACA and commit a crime, DACA won't be a protection.

Holding off on deporting them is a courtesy anyway since DACA and DAPA are held up in the courts, since they were programs that were illegally created. Trump could change his mind and have ICE start deporting them at any time.

They can take their kids to their home country. The kids can move back when they are adults if they want.

The great Mexican herds will outnumber the buffalo of the great plains as they are driven south of the great wall.

Yeah I know he could but I hope he doesn't. I mean yeah I get it they are here illegally but if you've been here for that long and this is all you know then I find it pretty distasteful to kick you out if you aren't doing anything bad. I'm just sitting here thinking alright I'm a black guy and I've lived here my whole life. I find out tomorrow that I was actually born in Africa and my parents brought me here as a baby and just never told me and ICE comes knocking on my door telling me they're sending me back to Zimbabwe or something I'd be screwed. I'm American, I've been here my entire life, I don't know anything about Africa I've never even been there what the hell am I supposed to do over there?

If he does decide to change that law then I at least hope there are some age cutoff's or grandfathered in time lines based on how long you've been here or something.

They can go back to mexico and make that place great aga...er...for a change.

With the enormous amount of resources mexihole has, there is no reason that place can't move up from the turd world status that it currently has.

It is completely stupid to the nth power not to deport the kids with their illegal alien parents. I've seen a lot of stupid crap but this has to be the #1 most asinine idea of all time.

Well even though I'm an immigration restrictionist as hard core as any on this forum, I do see the situation of children brought over into this country as different. They didn't commit a crime, their parents or hired coyote did. But I probably disagree with DACA's age limit. You can qualify if you came into the US under the age of 16. That's too old in my opinion. If you're a teenager, it's not like you forget all about your home country. There is no reason why you can't go home, but if you are talking about someone 6 or younger, they probably have no real memories of their home country and may not be fluent in their home country's language. Unless they go criminal, some accommodation should be made for them to stay. But priority wise that's kind of low right now on the list.

It gives DACA people a pretty good incentive to keep their noses clean though.

If I were Trump I'd focus on the illegals who have committed a crime, create an accelerated path to citizenship for families, make E-verify mandatory and build that damn wall already!

Whether you agree or disagree with the program it must be conceded that this is the way to announce and bring the plans on line. Get it out there and get it explained without footage of dragging people out of their homes in the middle of the night. People can understand and react more rationally, you get feedback and the opportunity to make changes before rollout. Apparently some adults have stepped up to the plate.

Some parts I'm OK with and some I'm not (the two year policy). I guess that means it's OK.

If their parents get deported who is going to raise and support the kids?

Yeah but what if the kid grew up here their entire life? America is all they know, Mexico is a foreign country to them or wherever their home country may be. It would be undue hardship to just send them back there and expect them to make it in a country that they know absolutely nothing about and for all intents and purposes never even been to before.

I mean thats like grabbing a random American guy who grew up in Nebraska and dropping them off in Bulgaria or something and saying alright here's where you were born, see ya. Blame your parents from bringing you over here when you were 6 months old. Oh you're 40 and you know nothing about this place? You grew up in Omaha? You don't even speak the language? Sounds like a personal problem. Bye guy.

If I were Trump I would deport the illegals within 1 hour of apprehension, fine all employers $100,000 for each illegal alien they employ, and build the wall and make Mexico pay for it.

The parents might have thought about that before they chose to knowingly raise their child under such dangerous and illegal circumstances.
