And here it is. I thought Biden wanted to hide behind a commission? Does he support this?

Will a majority of the Congress? Will they vote to politicize the Supreme and make it a war with who appoints the next batch? Even when FDR attempted to do so it probably the biggest progressives advance in our history it was considered WAY to radical. Even to the darling Justice of the left Ginsberg 9 was the correct number.

This is about turning the SCOTUS into a political arm of the party in power. That might work in the short term for the Dems/Left/Progs/MSM but the tables do get turned. Perhaps the Republicans should issue a letter stating that if the Democrats pass that if they take back the Congress they first act will be to either repeal it add more.

HOUSE AND SENATE DEMOCRATS PLAN BILL TO ADD FOUR JUSTICES TO SUPREME COURT

    CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS PLAN
to unveil legislation expanding the size of the Supreme Court on Thursday, according to three congressional sources familiar with the closely held measure.

The bill would add four seats to the high court, bringing the total to 13, from the current 9. The number of justices on the Court has fluctuated widely throughout the course of the nation’s history. Republicans currently hold 6 seats, while Democrats hold just 3 after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and the quick confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

The bill is led by House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler, Subcommittee chair Hank Johnson, and freshman Rep. Mondaire Jones.

In the Senate, the bill is being championed by Ed Markey of Massachusetts.

Well to be fair, they did kind of run on this.

Coming up, PR statehood, and maybe DC statehood if they can figure out the constitutional problems. Then again, with 4 new liberal justices, that should be a breeze!

It will never pass. There's even a liberal Supreme Court Justice that doesn't want the court to be expanded...

This is what comes from Mitch refusing to even hear Obama's appointment for nearly a year - that was a purely political
move regarding the court - so stop playing the victim in this soap opera.

So you don't think Mitch didn't already politicize it enough by not bringing Garland up for a vote and then rushing through Trumps pick ???

DC statehood passed in the House last year, and it's headed back to the Senate in the very near future.

I'm just imagining what the reaction would've been if Trump only got to fill 1 SCOTUS vacancy ... then decided to expand the court so he could appoint 4 more.

Sounds to me like DOA in The Senate.

    No chance. No worries.

It probably makes the Dems feel better to whine, but they won't have the votes to pass this.

It will be like the 32 times the House GOP passed bills to do away with ObamaCare

Yeah but it still wouldn't be constitutional. Gotta get those new justices in.

Boo Hoo, look what those dirty Dems are doing. The Repubs don't like the rules being the same for both sides.

Actually, the Repubs like the rules fine. It's just they've been better at it than the Dems.

I'm totally against it. It's a grab for absolute power. Then again, if I were a Republican and this goes through adding 4 new seats to the SCOTUS, once I regained power, the senate and the presidency, I'd add 10 more justices to the SCOTUS. Sort of like saying, my 10 will beat your 4.

Things like this escalate big time. The Democrats should look at their first use and precedence setting of the nuclear option by ex-majority leader, Democratic senator Harry Reid. He excluded the SCOTUS, but set the precedence. Then when the Republicans regained the senate and presidency, McConnell escalated it to include the SCOTUS. The same will happen to adding justices to the SCOTUS. Soon we'll have 99 SCOTUS justices. Watch and see. All of this for a short term political gain. a bold move for absolute power by the democrats.

It's stuff like this that makes me wish I hadn't voted for Biden. I really disliked Trump and his obnoxious and very rude ways. Biden I thought was a moderate democrats, I guess he pulled the wool over my eyes.

Oh well, 13 SCOTUS justices, then 23, then 35, then 49, then 69, then 81, then 99 and more to come. I'll tell you this, I sure won't be voting Democratic come 2022.

Without a doubt most of the (D) agenda is doomed if they don't take control of the court. Pretty good indication how f*cked up (D)s legislation really is, when they basically admit it's unconstitutional and they know it.

I mean, you reap what you sow on this front. But still. I don't like how the SCOTUS is becoming politicized. Probably a scare tactic to get the GOP to the negotiation table. Still. The SCOTUS being a political pawn between dems and the GOP is not a good sign going forward.

Democrats have every intention in making our Government into a Communist form of Government. I warned forums time after time.

Hold on, now. McConnell politicized the hell out of the Supreme Court when he refused to let Obama appoint a justice late in his final term, yet rushed an appointment by Trump late in his term. By your standards, this political maneuvering did just what you said and turned the SCOTUS into a political arm of the party then in power, did it not? If not, please explain how it was different.

This is the kind of political double standard that is getting beyond old at this point, and it's the Republicans who are to blame for it.

As is adding justices to the Supreme Court. It's entirely legal and constitutional, and the number of justices has changed in the past.

Nope. There's no double standard. It's just that Mitch turned out to be better than the Dems at a game Harry Reid started.
