Nazis were not socialists. The actual socialists and communists were the first to go to concentration camps. Hitler hated actual socialists even more than Jews and went after them first.

Because you started with the very mistaken assertion that Nazis were socialists - "How are Nazis different from other socialists?"

They weren't socialists. Fascists are fascist. Socialists are socialist. Completely different terms for completely different ideologies. One is left wing, one is very right wing. If you're trying to equate the two, you are too far off the mark to rationally discuss the subject. Educate yourself. Then we'll talk.

Communism is to socialism as fascism is to capitalism.

Understand that, and we'll have a basis to discuss your poorly phrased question. Once you do understand that, though, you won't need to ask...

Totalitarian Communism in the USSR and totalitarian Nazism were indeed different, even though human rights were non-existent in both; there were privately owned companies in Nazi Germany, like Messerschmitt, Krupp, and Daimler Benz. They made profits (remember Oskar Schindler) and stayed private throughout the war . Pretty sure every company in Russia was nationalized and controlled out of Moscow, ut I can't see that there was much industrialization in Russia before the revolution.

I guess if you're being shot for criticizing the regime it doesn't matter much, but shot you were in both places, which is why the analogies between Hitler and Trump are so disgustingly ignorant and unfair. Not to mention that both Fascism in Italy and Nazism were expansionist. Trump is an isolationist, relatively speaking. He wants our military out of the Middle East, and thankfully has no designs on territory in Canada or Mexico. Hitler would invade north and south of the border.

 

The base of the NSDAP were socialist in ideology. They presented themselves as such and implemented many of socialism main program like free national healthcare, agrarian refoms and national work programs. They bought the mases support with freebies and dreams. But like all socialist experiment on earth, the leadership turned into despotic authoritarian dictators once they've finished consolidating power.

the fact that they sent member of other socialist party to Dachau doesn't make them less socialist. Lenin and Stalin did the same and also started as socialist. Socialism is only a stepping stone, not a final form of government. All socialist experiment ended up transitioning to either communist or fascist dictature since it concentrates power into a non representative elite.
