I don't think you've understood the article, though. It's not about women who pretend to like sex in order to make their husbands feel good and gain a foothold of power in a relationship. It's about women who can't muster up enough interest in sex to even pretend to like it.

There did not need to be.

Every state had laws against rape and the USSC decided long before the 1990s that rape could still exist within marriage.

The federal law was a needless redundancy

That's the rub. As a concept, selfish refers to concern with your own interests. There is nothing there about harming others in any way. That part is added to the meaning and represents a contradiction. The problem with insisting that selfishness necessitates harming others to gain any benefit is that it is NOT in your interest to harm anyone!

The wife refusing sex and doing so without guilt is perfectly selfish. The husband can be as frustrated as he wishes to be if he thinks he is deprived of an entitlement but that would be his problem. The husband is not really acting in his own interest because it isn't in his interest to harm or exploit his own wife.

 

The reason women fake orgasm is because they mistakenly believe men really care.

This new trend I've recently noticed among my Christian friends (and no one on this board is being included here obviously) flies directly in the face of the well-known fact that women sense odors 3x better than men. It's a good article and has nothing to do with rape. It discourages infidelity. Sex is important for marriage. And a women who just lays there on regular basis just to get it over with is hurting her husband and marriage. In marriage, their are times you can't change the other person and this article is asking the man to change his attitude rather then look elsewhere. Geeze....

If you'd read the Bible closely, you'd find that the very verse which tells women not to deny their husbands (sexually) tells men, in the very next verse, not to deny their wives. I mean, my God, if you can't fathom ever doing something that you're not "enthusiastic" about for the sake of your spouse (or girlfriend) then I wonder if you've ever been in a long-term committed relationship. Have you ever gone to a dumb romantic comedy because she wanted to? Or gone to a musical, because she wanted to? Or gone to see the stupid field hockey team play, which no one cares about, because she's on the team and wanted you to see her play? Or go the other way around. Is it really so wicked that women would go to the boat show with guys because their guy enjoys her company at this event he loves (which she doesn't)? Is it so 19th century for a woman to bring her guy a cold glass of water or lemonade when he's taking care of the yard on his day off during the summer? None of this is forced - it's something you do because you want your partner to be happy.

I know we put sex on a pedestal in society, but sex is not something you should only do for your own sake. Those guys who finish and then roll over to sleep? Absolute jerks who should be tossed to the curb - THAT is what sex for your own sake, which you seem to be arguing for, looks like. Do I like foreplay with women? No, I really am not that into it, and I don't understand how a woman could enjoy giving oral, but I'm perfectly happy to satiate a woman a few times before I'm satiated, because anytime a woman is worth my time to sleep with, she's worth enough to me that I want to make her happy. And that's really all that it is.
