A small group can take over a large group by spreading their emotions (also by causing emotions in many ways, the most common are; terror, repression, bureaucracy, fear, awakening, euphorism, sadness, curiosity) into the large group.
Since the last fifteen years mainly via television (many news channels) and online new sites (many), and also by all other media (from video games to movies) that has influenced.
To prevent the large group from becoming more and more the same in mind, thoughts and emotional state, is to stop communicating about all that is influencing your mind, because people copycat information (plus add some extra personal emotion to it, and the next too, and the next, etc, (like chain reactions of emotion through society, every political or news forum shows the same thing, nearly completely useless communication (p2p), because millions of words have not brought society/ecology forward in the things that are needed the most, society only became more and more the same in emotional state)

So emotion amplifies and rises more and more (for decades now, and faster since turn of century), and in the end the large group becomes the same in mind, state of emotion and behaviour as the small group. And then you are them collectively. Every person that quits further communication prevents a rise in emotion of someone else. In the end every individual's emotion drops to a personal level, it cannot drop lower, what happens is a society that was the same when politics and media started to influence people's minds, that mus have been around 1900s when politics, and later radio and tv came. So for over a century influence of the minds of every person that listened to the radio (and copycatting from person to person) red a news paper and/or watched tv.

yep the industrial revolution was really starting to ratchet up at 1900 level. baseball was a huge drawing of crowds like a roman arena

note before the 1900s men where always teachers [IMG] in a larger percentage then women, then times change to be more women as the school teacher,[IMG] thus giving the boy and young girl a cult like perspective on life, and more government like liberal rule .

    It's called number inflation.

That's why homosexuals are successful. They ahve the media on their side and the media loves hype and sensationalism.

And when people hear the same thing over and over again they come to believe it, especially if there isn't anything to counter the claim that's being repeated.

So really, it's if a lie is repeated often enough then it becomes true.
