I just wanted to see how we're doing.

Personally, I'm really suffering under these lockdowns and social proximity laws and talk of a "new normal" and the pooped up election and all of it. I've lost 24lbs of lean mass since January (181 --> 157). Not the biggest problem anyone is dealing with, but it hurts. Generally, I stopped caring about my body and my health for extra time spent trying to figure out what is truly happening in the world today, but it is impossible to keep up. Fighting addiction and withdrawal quite a bit too, unfortunately. Peaks and valleys with no in-between.

On the bright side, I got a sweet Triumph Scrambler earlier this year and it keeps me happy, plus I am ugly so the mask is nice. Also, some hope in the penny-stock markets!!!

    How are you doing?

I'm doin' fine Vent my political frustrations on the threads here, then go about normal day to day living. I'm retired, my health is about as well as can be expected for an old rake. I have enough money to meet my bills with some left over for discretionary spending. Every incoming administration is billed as the end of civilization by the losers, but as it has yet to happen I remain hopeful.

It's not too bad. I'm retired, in reasonable health and not short of money. I'm also unsociable at the best of times, but shutting the shops and bars is a pain, plus we've missed all the parades, flea markets and such-like. The garden's had plenty of attention which has paid off, and I got on the leaderboards in Diablo 3! I'm told that video games are good for your mental health (not necessarily for your temper though!)

It's thoughtful of you to ask.

I'm doing fine but miss the old fashioned, firm handshakes, hugs and kisses. For some reason women like to kiss me quite possibly out of pity for a harmless, "Scratch n' Dent" old Veteran.

In addition to the health issues common to most people who managed to live 70 years fully if not always wisely, I'm concerned for people who are not so fortunate and try to act accordingly by giving/sharing what I can when I can.

Since I have both my blacksmith shop and target range on my property and have many varied interests, I am seldom bored but also think about the many single and younger people who are missing out on the time in life when people mix, meet, go dancing and etc.

So, briefly put, my delightful wife, 2 dogs, 2 cats and I are doing very well but I feel even better when I'm in a position to help someone who is not doing so well.

Thanks, good luck & please be careful on your Scrambler

Life is good. I'm 86 and because of a mobility issue my wife and I live in a very comfortable retirement home. We've really been ahead of the pandemic issue. While there are a lot of restrictions on visitors and such we are isolated from normal society and have all the things we need inside our protected community. We have fine dining, movies, physical and mental activities, a barber/beauty salon. We have a garden, beautiful walkways and grounds. The pandemic has been a lot easier for us here than if we were still living in our stand alone home.

I am doing well. I'll be leaving the military soon once these orders finish up. Will be contracting again. My Patriots got a huge win against the ratbirds last night so I'm thrilled about that.

Funny you mentioned handshakes. Ran into a guy out in public I have known most of my life but hadn't seen in awhile and gave him a big handshake/pat on the shoulder deal and people around us were like gasping for air that we had actually touched each other. I just joked ,"Rut Roh, Scooby. I think we just committed a felony handshake in the Home Depot."

As for the thread, have 600 square feet of laminate flooring acclimating. Guess that will keep me busy awhile.

All is well here, thank you for asking. No major adjustments since the beginning of the pandemic lockdowns. Of course there were establishments we couldn’t visit, but we made the best of it. Lots of yard work, visiting nurseries 50 + miles away in April and May and made some beautiful purchases. One being a Dappled Willow. Supporting our local pubs and restaurants with carry out, tailgating with family and friends, reading and some home improvement. Lots of walking and fresh air on the NCR trail and in the hood. The money we saved from events being cancelled went to our food bank and the Ronald McDonald House.
Thankfully, for us and ours, it’s just been an inconvenience. Unfortunately, for many it hasn’t .

It looks like most of us responding to this thread are in the seasoned citizens category; which is interesting. The lockdown has not been much of a personal burden. Both the wife and I are in the retirement age zone and are homebody types with hardly any family left to speak of, and so socializing has never been our thing and nor going to restaurants or shopping for the sake of getting out of the house . . . that's what public parks are for anyway.

That aside we are each all sorts of artists and so we have endless things with which to keep ourselves occupied. I am about to return to painting landscapes in oil colors and have been practicing martial art forms on a daily basis since April. One of the most interesting things was the discovery that I no longer have to warm up or stretch before exercising. Who knew?

My newest girlfriend is smoking hot and 30 years younger than me. So for me personally, I'm loving the lock down.

I've been largely working in isolation since March. But that is nothing new. I've been largely working in isolation for 30 years. LOL!

Trump losing was key. I was very worried about the unavoidable civil war if he won.

I am thinking I hate NYC l, and I hope every conservative and every Republican and every Trump voter (not necessarily synonymous) will join me in boycotting it in all its violent, Cuomo loving, Covid- infected wokeness.

So to answer the question, I'm healthy, but feeling negative about the state of the union. Especially NYC.

My unit just helped provide law enforcement security in New York. It's amazing the hatred the antifa/democrats have for the people that serve their country. Luckily it was not too violent. It was shut down after a barrier stack. I am just so confused as to why we are hated so much when our job is to fight for their freedom. Oh well. Not my job to understand their hatred.

I can't complain. In a recent FB post on our cities group page, someone asked "Do you have anything you dont need or something you cant afford" I said I know it's a doozy but me and my handicapped wife could sure use a handicapped van....a few days later this awesome man showed up with a car hauler and gave us this, would not take a penny. I'm so grateful. DSCN0362.JPG DSCN0361.JPG

    Incredible! Very happy for you!

I watched a police officer buy 12 bagels for a few homeless folks when I was in new york last week. They sat down, ate together.

Now I just have to take the driving test, eye test registration and insurance. Been getting some pratice with a friends F150 in the country. I have not drove much, maybe 300 miles in my life but I'm getting the hang of it. I will still run errands on my bicycle, it wont be driven much, maybe 70 miles a week. God bless that man. We did drive it about 8 miles on some backroads with his old lady following us, just to make sure the transmission is good before we put $ in it. It will now remain parked until legal. That's our humble little house in the background.

Some things are good. My career is doing great, and I'm getting my MBA this year. My wife was fired, but she found another great job within a month, which is a big deal for her in so many ways. It was a HUGE pay raise, a great new title, and it was the first time she'd had people contact her about a job rather than applying. Over all, we have nothing to complain about. We each now have 6-figure jobs. Either of us could quit or job now and support the other if we needed to.

We still both remember, with a strange fondness, the days when we would look at a roll of quarters and struggle over whether we would use it to do laundry or to splurge on a $5 pepperoni and a side from the local pizza restaurant.

But things aren't so great for the rest of my family. My mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, nieces, nephew, and grandmother all live on the same property. Of those, my mother and brother-in-law are both first responders, and 4 of those people that I mentioned (including one of the first responders) are high risk people when it comes to COVID. Nonetheless, people in the area don't care. They are perfectly willing to risk the life and safety of my family. Some of those irresponsible people involve other family members and continue to be so, even after my mom's close call earlier this year.

And now my bipolar dad has gone full tilt on Trump conspiracy theories, ditching his meds and alienating the rest of the family. This was manageable when he was just pushing Area 51 alien stuff, but this has gone too far and, with the COVID 19 issues, threatens the health and safety of the family. My cousins refuse to wear masks around my dying grandmother because "Trump doesn't wear one." It's ****ing insanity. They won't even wear masks around their own father and mother, both of which have chronic respiratory issues and would likely die if infected. This just keeps getting worse.

This has killed two neighbors. This has killed two other local pastors. This will likely kill some of my family members, some of whom have chosen to risk their lives to save others. And it amazes me that simply caring for the lives of my family members is somehow a partisan issue. **** it.

I have been driving my friends F150 a few miles each night. I'm going tomorrow to renew my restricted. Last thing I need is to get pulled with no license but I do need some practice before the test.
