In contemporary politics, pro-lifers are mostly conservative while pro-choicers are mostly liberal. I consider myself to be leftist and socially progressive on most issues. Abortion however, is one of the handful of issues that I lean more to the right on. So far, I don't think that I've ever met any other pro-life liberals. When dealing with other liberals, I have somewhat of a don't-ask-don't-tell policy regarding stances on abortion. I find that I usually get a lot of flak from some (probably not even most) liberals if I ever reveal myself to be pro-life. This is especially true whenever the liberal in question is a woman or feminist. Some of them will literally tear a strip out of you for being pro-life and automatically accuse you of being some right-wing, misogynistic, religiously bigoted ****wit. Hence my don't-ask-don't-tell policy most of the time. So, I'm here to possibly find answers. How common are pro-life liberals in your experience?
You're going to be sitting by yourself at Democratic Party fundraisers. They hate pro-lifers. I'd keep that to yourself.
I believe abortion should be illegal after 20 weeks except for minors, when the life of the mother is in danger or when the fetus is not viable. I think that in all other cases of abortions after 20 weeks the mother and the doctor should be held criminally accountable. I'm not sure what that makes me because I've been labeled as both. And have seen politicians who declare themselves to be pro-life and pro-choice hold similar positions as mine.
