Perfectly fine if you are applying for a job at the local lumber yard..... I do really think that buying bonded paper and matching envelopes helps when people are job searching if they are looking for anything that requires some degree of professionalism. Beyond that, I don't really care so much...
Fine stationery is really expensive -- and truly a luxury. Nice to see something beyond copier paper and card stock. Nice to feel it.
I once had a friend They found him in a car A hose to the window And the motor running hot Seems he couldn't take it The rhetoric of life Someone found him naked With a note right by his side A note right by his side He can't take it back Neither can I No, neither can I ...
I'm a fisherman, and used to be a part time fishing guide. One particularly bad day of not catching any thing. A guy at the ramp asked what we caught, and i replied only thing I caught today was a emptystringer.
Tres Borrachos was a race horse on the California circuit not long ago. He did race in the Derby and his best performance was a 3rd in a Breeders Cup race. His name in Spanish means "Three Drunks", and the 3 men who originally owned him said they named him after themselves. He's now retired and living the high life.
It's a derivative of my surname. A nickname. The name I introduce myself by and the name most people have called me for the last 40 years. Also my fathers nickname and his fathers and so on. It's my name. The one I most recognise to describe me. It's unique enough for me to not commonly need another.
I'm not very imaginative. I usually use my name or some variant on forums. In this case, it just popped into my head. I thought the Orwell reference would fit here, so I decided to use it.
On my way to work I'd pass an osage orange tree that hung over the road - the "road apples" would be mashed and make a mess - when you hit one right, it'd tug the wheel. Was there ever any use for them? (the "apples") The trees were hardy.
I haven't ever tried it, but the lore of the "Horse Apples," as @tecoyah calls them, is that they repel spiders and insects, so they were tossed under beds. When I was a kid, we threw them at each other, so they had at least one use- occupying knot heads! lol
" The wood is extremely hard, heavy, durable and shrinks or swells little compared to the wood of other trees. The wood is used for fence posts, treenails, furniture, and archery bows. In fact, many archers consider the wood of the Osage-orange to be the world's finest wood for bows. Another common name for this tree, bodark, is from the French bios d'arc meaning "bow wood." This tree also produces a bright yellow dye which can be extracted from the wood. The fruit of the Osage-orange is a nuisance in the home landscape and has little value. Hedge apples are not an important source of food for wildlife as most birds and animals find the fruit unpalatable. The thorny trees do provide nesting and cover for wildlife. The belief about the use of hedge apples for insect control is widespread and persistent. it is claimed that placing hedge apples around the foundation or inside the basement will repel or control insects. A few years ago, Iowa State University toxicologists extracted compounds from hedge apples. When concentrated, these compounds were found to repel insects. Scientists also found that natural concentrations of these compounds in the fruit were too low to be an effective repellent. So, don't be fooled into spending much to use hedge apples as an insect repellent. If you decide to pick hedge apples to check out the repellency yourself or to use the fruit as a fall decoration, it would be wise to wear gloves. The milky juice present in the stems and fruit of the Osage-orange can irritate the skin." http://lancaster.unl.edu/enviro/pest/nebline/hedgeapple.htm
I have no idea why, or when, I first used this name. I suspect I was somewhere, plunged in a name, it was already being used, so I improvised until one was accepted. I don't put much thought, obviously, into names. It's merely part of the task when you sign up.
Actually, my favorite episode of Dr. Who is "The Doctor's Wife", where the TARDIS became human. The woman they got to play the part of the TARDIS was outstanding in my opinion. Funny as heck on occasion as well.
Yes, I would put that right up there at the top. Another one that I really enjoyed was when Rose - the Bad Wolf - merged with the TARDIS. ...and when Mickey realized the Doctor sent all of the Daleks to hell! That was a good line - maybe my favorite in the series.
No offense intented, but I often considered your username ironic because the doctor, at least the recent one, hate weapons when you're pretty a big lover of them. And for my username, it's simply because I'm the king.
