Lots f great creativity in screen name creation. Mine: Not so much. I named my Blue Burmese cat Mia Bleu...... and then followed with naming self that way on here A cat lover : including the big cats ... Cute topic, BTW. Nice distraction from the messy world we are in currently...
When I forget my user name.. it is time to get of the computer. so I made it simple to remember. I used to for over 20 years now.. and occasionally someone from an old forum will see it and greet me. I started using old rusty vehicles as avatars awhile ago... all abandoned long ago in the general area of where I live.. they all have a story of some sort.. or I'll just make one up for them.
It's a beautiful name for a cat, and it's a cool forum handle. Mine to the left are Benny & Gizmo. We have two more, though.
Dennis Tate = DennisTate After my first campaign for public office back in 2004 I decided to use my name online even if it gets me into some difficulties. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...016-and-2004-campaign-writings-as-art.534297/
Jack Hays has been described as the greatest of the early Texas Rangers. Jack Hays County in Texas is named for him. Later in life he moved to California, where he was among the founders of the city of Oakland. During the Civil War he was firmly pro-Union. His exploits are extensively recounted in Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne. I thought he is an admirable although little-known figure from our history. Full name: John Coffee Hays.
My dad's nickname. He was born in Arkansas. Townsfolks, friends, neighbors, biz people he dealt with...all called him Arkie.
A famous General from WW1. One of the two most innovative and successful generals of war, a war marked for the most part by failure. (The other was Canadian BTW). Anyway, he was an immigrant from a working class background and Jewish in an anglophile country at a time when all the odds should have been stacked against him. Yet he went on to succeed despite those odds. In short, a man to be admired, even given his human failings.
Pixie is the name of my smallest dog...I have two. She is a cross between a caramel yorkie and daschund...and zips about from here to there before you know where she is. But I find her "charming"...
My nickname is a kind of Italian - English composition. "Alpin" is a dialectal form to say "Alpine" and obviously "Luke" is "Luca" [or Luke Skywalker ... if you prefer!]. So that it simply means "Luca from the Alps".
Many years ago while I was in the US Navy we made a port visit to Hong Kong. A few shipmates and I ended up at a pub frequented by Brit expatriates. One thing led to another and we ended up shooting darts for drinks. I was a bit of a ringer as I had playing in version leagues for almost ten years. (I didn’t tell the Brits to the end). Anyway, I played extremely well - way over my head - Us Yanks won more than our fair share of games - which prompted the Brits to say “just one more, just one more” So after all that on our way back to the ship one of my pals dubbed my “Bullseye, Hong Kong King of darts”/
