yeah, the same here in mass, but there is a limit of like $50 of tax which is something like a item would cost for $1000. I never brought anything for more than $500 that wasn't delivered. The state does not expect you to buy a shirt for 40 bucks and send them a check for $1.00. there is not even a question on the state income tax form to try and recoup it. They would have to rebate taxes paid to other states, for example clothing is not taxed in Mass, but it is in RI. If I buy a shirt in ri. does mass send me a rebate or if I should a mass ID, I don't pay the tax.

What I am trying to point out it is not the same as cheating on your taxes. You signed your taxes saying you are being truthful. You buy a shirt next door they don't ask you to pay tax. Similar to fireworks, we have notices on our border saying fireworks are illegal in Mass, there is no sign asking you to declare purchased goods.

Not paying your use tax is cheating on your taxes just as if a millionaire cheated on his taxes..

Again how do you figure that a crime with value of say 10 dollars is equivalent to a crime of tens of thousands. That is like saying saying jaywalking and robbing a bank are the same thing. Now if the millionaire only cheated 10 bucks, I would not complain or if the purchaser bought a $250,000 44 foot boat then yes he is commiting the same offense. but in this county we have laws and enforce laws based on the degree of the infraction.

A guy robs a bank at gun point and gets away with 2000 dollars. Another guy commits the same crime and gets away with 2 million.. whoes worse?

The problem is that when rich people cheat on taxes, they are in fact stealing millions or billions. Poor people cheating on taxes steal very little.

It's the same crime.. is it worse for a rich man to kill someone than for a poor man?

The benefits lay mainly in real estate.

The US is one of two countries that tax citizenship. You have to dig deep into the third world to find the other. That's why Zuckerberg's sidekick renounced his citizenship b4 facebook went public.

The real challenges will be to deal with the decreased tax revenue associated with the standard solutions to uncontrollable envy. There is also an increased cost for entitlements due to lost jobs. The envious who want to punish those who worked hard and made correct decisions should come up with solutions for the two problems that are known to occur every time they get their way. One standard scheme, the death tax, will not only throw family businesses into bankruptcy, but will throw employees out on the street. The closing of family farms present another problem. How do we feed those on food stamps with decreased farm production.

Those who play on peoples' envy like Liz Warren and the uncontrollably envious population she is responsible for should pick up the tab. Perhaps Liz can cash in the capital she claimed being the first woman of color in Harvard Law. Perhaps she can sell that capital to the second woman of color for a bargain basement price.

You first have to define the word "rich". My son started working in 9th grade for a baker after school. He continued various part-time jobs through State College which my wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to afford for him attend and graduate.
Today his business is taking companies public and he does make millions on each deal so I guess you would call him "rich". He has no tax dodges so he pays off the top many times in the state he was working in at the time. He feels privileged to pay those taxes and have the lifestyle he has been working toward over the last 25 years to achieve.
I also know what he spends and believe me, things like a last minute trip to the Superbowl for two cost him $25,000. Crazy? maybe not if you like in his world but counting the number of people that benefited, hotel staff, drivers, wait staff, etc, everybody gets some of the benefits to the attendance of people like him. We can talk house taxes at $65,000, cars with the associated sales tax, dinners out, at least two charity auctions per month where he will donate heavily, and then there is the scholarship at the college he attended, fully funded and set up for others who may need financial help.
Until you understand all the associated benefits for others that are associated with all those nasty "rich" people, stop complaining and get to work.
