How do you measure firepower? How much is too much?

Gun control efforts have been focused on AR's for some time even though there are shotguns and pistols that deal more damage than an AR does. Mini-14's aren't usually scorned by the gun control crowd like AR's, yet it uses the very same ammo AR's do, at the same rate of fire as AR's.

It would be easier to believe Gun Control when they say it's about saving lives if they were focused on the firearms that are being used in the majority of homicides.

Why focus on AR's when pistols are used more often? Real question, no snark.

 

1) they already lost handguns in Heller
2) people who own AR 15s tend to be more likely gun rights advocates and thus more likely, the political enemies of gun banners
3) AR 15s are ideal for use against rioting mobs and mass home invasions. Many gun banners identify with rioting looters
4) there is an attitude-among gun banners-that those who own "assault weapons" are less trusting of government and thus gun banners want to punish those people

 

No such thing as too much firepower...

 

Gun grabbers who want to ban AR--15's have obviously never seen a 12 gauge auto with flechettes and dragonsbreath in action....

 

If they were worried about firepower, they would be banning .50 cal and .338 Lapua rifles that will take your head clean off your shoulders at 1,000 yards....

You will not recieve a logical answer to this question, because the only one that exists is: pistol ban does not have the support to pass legislation, and the goal is to just restrict as much as possible, not to make any real difference.

 

I feel like most discussions on guns boil down to it's just a bunch of nerds who are upset that high school bullies are telling them that their nerdom is stupid and doom and nobody is going to invite them out to prom. Just saying but that's how I read most arguments about guns.

 

Most anti gun posts seem to come from the former kids who hid behind the teachers' skirts and ratted out the other kids.

Probably. They’re the ones who grew up understanding how to cope with fear in an uncertain world. A person doesn’t have to be scared all the time of something bad happening and can live a good life knowing that acts of violence are in of themselves rare.

Ad hominems aside, how do you tell when firepower is too much?

 

The ones with the most firepower have too much. Once we get rid of them, then the ones with the next most firepower will have too much. Rinse and repeat for full victim disarmament.

It is due to ignorance. Lemmings just rebleat what is fed to them and never put forth the effort to learn about what they were made to oppose. Politicians know that an all out gun ban cannot be achieved, so they are slowly boiling the frog. ARs look scary to many and images are used to feed fear.

As far as the majority of murder, the main culprit is government combined with an unarmed society.

Because that's what gun control threads usually are at their core: I don't think you should have that and I want someone to come take it from you and kill you if you resist.

 

How much is to much? No such thing as to much. Like no such thing as to much Steak. Or to much sex. Or to much beer. Always room for more.
