I picked rninl8 (running late). I was playing Warbirds, a WW2 internet dogfighting game. People were complaining it was too hard to type rninl8 in a dogfight. So I shortened it to 'late'. This was maybe 20 years ago? That was serendipitous, as layer after layer of meaning unfolded like a flower that was always there, but I didn't know it. I was born late to the Boomer generation. There was a decade where I was always too late. There was a very well known party place I wanted to go and party. When I turned 16, it was closed down. Apprenticeships, mentors, jobs, you name it, by the time I got there, everything was full up, gone, or just not available. My parents had been married several years when I showed up. My father had adjusted quite nicely to the situation, and didn't adjust at all to his new circumstance. Too late... There's lots more, but that gives you the theme of my life. Now it is well and truly late, but my motto is better late than never.
