How many crimes would not have been committed if Obama administration enforced the law

According to a DOJ OIG 2016 report, 100,000 prohibited people tried to purchase firearms by lying on the FF 4473...this is punishable by ten years in prison. Yet according to the report only 30 - 40 were ever considered for prosecution per year.

Now had those 100,000 been prosecuted, how much lower do you think the crime rate would be? It was asked in another thread about suicides and firearm availability, how many would have lived if there were no guns. How much crime would have been prevented if there were less criminals on the street..

I spent time working in a retail gun shop a few years ago, and we regularly had gang members and other people walking in, wanting to run their background to see if they could pass. They'd get denied (obvious criminal record), shrug their shoulders and walk out, utterly unsurprised.

If there was any gun regulation I'd support whole-heartedly it would be arresting, prosecuting, and incarcerating disqualified persons who choose to brazenly lie on the 4473 purchase form....

Who says he is not, there is no report out on Trumps first year for FF4473 prosecutions. What if he put over half of those in prison. He's already directed ICE to go after the MS13 gangs...so what laws is he not enforcing. Illegal immigration is down, deportations are up. Or don't you like that?

 

I GUARANTEE you he has not put 10% in prison. It would be the lead story on every news network in america. The GOP will NEVER prosecute people who lie on FF4473. It costs too much

 

Why would you say something so lame? You know that the only available reports were during the Obama Administration. You have no idea if there has been an increase or decrease in prosecutions for lying on the 4473 by the new administration.
As we have stated for a long time. We need to enforce existing laws, until we do, there is no sense in creating more laws that will go unenforced... like universal background checks.

There's no reason to even consider additional gun control laws until Congress creates a legal requirement to investigate each of these stops and, where applicable, prosecute to the fullest extent possible.

However, if an Illegal Alien is in a traffic stop or detained in the commission of a crime, they now turn that person over for deportation at some point.

 

Many also promised to leave the Country if Donald Trump became President, they are still here.

I have not attacked former President Obama for anything, I had my say at the polling booth at Election time, now, there is nothing left to be said on the matter.

Lots of peo people are upset with current President Donald Trump because Immigration enforcement is targeting illegal aliens and deporting them as soon as they are detained in other problems that requires their status to be accessed, such as a routine traffic stop etc....

Presidents do NOT control Congress as part of checks and balances over Presidential powers, Congress can override any Presidents decisions.

What if the one illegal alien who wasn't deported killed a guy and buried him ... and that guy would have been one of the crazies who damages 30 school children if he wasn't stopped ... but we will never hear about it because nobody else knows?

You can contemplate "what if's" but I can never take them very seriously, because the Law of Unintended Consequences is always there.

 

In this case, maybe not so much.
Each of those denials has a name attached. Match them with people who committed crimes after the denial.

The point behind all this, I am sure you agree, is perfectly valid.
