I personally think that we need to repeal most of the drug laws, and release those imprisoned for non-violent drug offenses. We do that, and we'll open up all kinds of room to incarcerate the violent firearms offenders.

I agree completely, let those that wish to eliminate themselves with harmful illegal drugs do so.

Also, I observe many that are committing various petty crimes to support a drug habit, they simply walk into various stores and walk out without paying for merchandise.

Not really - guns are available from so many different sources, that to say you stopped them at A when all they have to do is go to B,C,D,E,F,G,H ... and then you are supporting illegal trade which puts more money into organized crime and that leads to other problems ...

As I said, the Law of Unintended Consequences is always on the horizon when you enter the land of "what ifs".

When you lie on a 4473, you commit a federal felony.
The point is these likely federal felonies should be investigated and prosecuted.

When a Felon is found illegally carrying a gun, give that person a good 20 years to think on it.

Federal prosecutions for firearm offenses are already up 23% in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Of course you're guessing because no numbers are available.

However, even if it is zero, I'm fine with that, since you have to have priorities.

Since federal firearms prosecutions were at their lowest level ever in Sep 2016, I'd prefer they focus on prosecuting those who already have them, instead of those who tried to get them and failed at the store.

Don't worry, there is nowhere to go but up when we look at Obama's abysmal failure to prosecute gun crimes.

Maybe he was worried they'd catch too many of the Fast and Furious guns or something.

He would have just turned around and released them. Like he did so many others.

You made the accusations, not me, prove your accusations,
President Obama did nothing about those prosecutions as it was NOT his job either.

You have no evidence to prove this because the data has not been released yet.

I think the problem is more along the line of judges not enforcing the law. Liberal attitudes, payoffs, and plea-bargains.
