The title really says it all,

What’s the maximum number of dogs you’ve ever had at once?

Mines a bit high, as a kid I started off with my great grandfather and father raising hounds (Walkers, Beagles, and Treeing Tennessee brindles) and shepherds.

Now my fiancé raises Chinese Cresteds and I raise Ovtcharkas, German Shepherds, and a line of Rescue dogs that I’ve turned into my own little rabbit dog breed. (Treeing Tennessee x Walker x Unknown Pit/Beagle mix)

This is one of my personally bred rabbit dogs:

I don’t even carry a gun anymore, he catches them and brings them to me.

One dog. One's enough for a companion dog.

How many of these dogs are housepets?
I have two- a whippet and a whippet something else. I don't think they can catch rabbits.

5 Chinese Cresteds and 1 of my private breed.

The other dogs are allowed in but prefer to be outside, I have a large outbuilding I’ve furnished for the big boys. ( one of my Ovtcharkas is over 240lbs )

One at a time was the most we had at one time. In recent years my wife and I have become cat people, We have a Rag Doll and he's a good pet and much easier to care for than a dog.

Twenty-four. Two gravid bitches made there way to our front porch one cold February evening 2003. We drug a couple of igloos around front and by morning they had seventeen puppies between them. We raised the pups up and sold them for $20 apiece. We also had five large Heinz 57's in back fenced in on a couple acres. Oh yeah, what a relief to get those pups raised and gone.

Are your Ovtcharkas bred for sheep herding or are they for flock protection, like Maremmas?

Mine are actually descendants of Red Star kennel, so... guard dog would be the best description? All bear types with most of them being of the Blue variety.

I mainly use them as training dummies for my other dogs, and guarding my property. Hook a pup up to one with a lead and let them walk. Great away to get rid of unnecessary aggression in the young ones.

Gotta be careful doing this, if your dogs question you or your family as pack leaders, you’ll have a dead pup in seconds. I had to deal with two of my dogs tearing my cat in half in front of me last year, let’s just say they understand who the pack leader is now really well. They were about a year old when they did it, haven’t growled at anything or done anything threatening other than to trespassers ever since.

My max was 114, I’m down to 26 at the moment.

Was training Walker teams with my father and selling them off in groups of 3. Lead dogs and two trainers + training equipment for $4,000.

I don’t spay and neuter, I keep them separated during heat. If I got them fixed I never would have created the private breed I have (The best rabbit dogs I’ve ever owned).

I also rescue animals, we just set loose a couple of wild rabbits whose mother was killed by a hay bailer.

Max number of pets I've had is two dogs and two cats. Currently, one dog and two cats. In the future I plan on two cats, and then eventually no cats. I don't plan to replace any pets. Entering the empty nest stage of life, and pets just complicate things.

People that don't like dogs have mental problems.

    It’s the truth.
