How many people who are NOT citizens of the UK, think Scotland should be independent

How about those who were born there, but are living abroad? They don't get a vote, but foreigners and children living in Scotland do.

I respect the people of Scotland's right to self determination. I don't think they benefit from being part of the UK, and is doesn't seem "natural" for them to stay part of it as Scotland has it's own culture - it's no coincidence that groups like the IRA keep popping up.

No, they don't get a vote though of course they would always be allowed to move back if Scotland went for Independence. I think it is appropriate that it is just the people living in Scotland. I have yet to find one living in England who wants Independence. Foreigners and children living in Scotland. Hmm, well the thing is Independence is for all the people living in Scotland now. It is not about ethnic Nationalism which is what you seem to be talking about

Belfast is still part of Northern ireland. For the UK to allow succession they need a simple majoirty in next year's referendum.

You do have a separate judical system and many laws are different. I don;t think anyone is actually objecting to Scotland determing its own future- There is a vote next year and Scots will decide to stay in or leave. It looks like they want to stay.

I didn't mention Sutherland at all. I'm a MacKenzie of Dingwall and I can trace my ancestry back to McAlpin, we were King Charles' Prime Minister of scotland in Exile and were on the Stuart side in the '15 and the '45, removed from the Peerage and put under the ban until we got the assent to return from exile in 1802 and served the crown during the war against Napoleon so I am just a little familiar with lineage.

My knowledge of this subject is solely based on the Mel Gibson movie Braveheart... so I want to make it clear that I have absolutely no idea of the U.K.'s internal strife. Here in Canada it is interesting to see the rift between Quebec and the rest of the Canadian Providences.

Until I saw this thread I had no idea that there was some gripe between Scotland and England. I will have to google some info on it.
