I beg your pardon, I thought you were young because of the not well thought out opinions and the drama, also your ignorance of what progressivism is. Maybe your hatred of it prevents you from seeing clearly. Progressivism has been the engine of social change for the better. Equal rights, women's rights, child protections, animal rights, equal protection under the law and on and on. Where has the right been on these issues and where has this ''left-wing socialist'' been on these issues?

But since you've apparently not spent a nanosecond playing devil's advocate with your own assumptions and ideology .. let me simplify it for you: Progressivism (capital P) SOMETIMES serves a purpose, and OTHER TIMES is problematic. There is nothing more certain than change, and changing times demand changing politics. We needed Progressivism in the 1960's, we don't need it today - while children are still starving and the planet is dying. The conservative (small c) refuses to accept that, and insists that their ideology is right FOR ALL TIMES, and ALL CONDITIONS. That is patently untrue, and in practice is therefore regressive.

The progressive (small p) understands that progress is beyond the politics of the day. The progressive is interested in forward motion, not ideology. If forward motion demands a politic which may have been objectionable last year, so be it. In fact that's exactly how the 60's happened .. because the presiding political mores were replaced to meet the needs of the moment. This should be obvious to anyone claiming to be for progress.
