For me, Clinton's "deplorables" are the neo-nazis, klan, and other white supremacists who worship their Trump as their "Glorious Leader!" I have no problem with their continuing to "Hail, Trump!"

    I'm far more concerned about

"... that other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change. It doesn’t really even matter where it comes from. They don’t buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won’t wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroine, feel like they’re in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well."

It's called the electoral college and should be relegated to a dumpster and would have been in a sensible world a long time ago but especially after the tragedy of the enabling of a grifter and traitor to be elevated to the level of commander in chief.

The best alternative for the Socialist Democrat Party is to consolidate the collective and disparate radically charged elements in the party, pool individual assets into one large collective operational fund, and move the entire party to Venezuela. Use the Antifa element to overthrow the existing failed Socialist Marxist party in Venezuela, and then institute the Neo Socialist model advocated by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. Prove to the rest of the USA that the Neo Socialist model of government will work in Venezuela. Then after 50 years, (to test to make sure the model is self sustainable), return some of the Democrat party members to the USA to seek re election to Congress in 2070, with a platform of
"We Made Socialism Work in Venezuela, and We Can Make it Work In USA".

So after 240 years, you clowns still haven't figured out that winning two cities with their millions of illegal voters isn't enough to win the White House?

The founders wisely avoided the tyranny of the majority that minority Republicans in Red States suffer. I'd hate to live in California, be taxed into the dirt so governor Brown-Out can hand out voter IDs to illegals like candy and perpetuate his fascist state. The founders knew what would happen in the purely Democratic states, but couldn't find a way out --- but to install a Republic structure for the nation.

By raising the minimum wage in America to one that equals a "living" wage for those who work full time, and by providing access to healthcare for every citizen in the U.S. thru universal healthcare.

So the 'deplorables' Hillary referred to were whites who had, in the past, voted for democrats simply because they were less educated? And now they want them back? That does make more sense.

Yeah right. You'll take their vote any day of the week. Then you'll value all of their opinions and call their votes "the will of the people"

Neither of my suggestions are "free." But they address two of the major challenges facing most Americans. I care. I feel that anyone who works 40 hours per week should be guaranteed a "living" wage. I also feel that access to healthcare should be regarded as a right, not a privilege. I know this goes against many on this forum who are OK with homelessness, starvation and disease, so long as it's not them or the ones they love. I'm not one of those people. :)

    You care, how nice
When you volunteer to pay the highest tax rates you advocate others pay, to pay for all of this "care", we can have a discussion.

I'm not opposed to paying taxes when I get something I want in return. Right now, I'm not. Most of my taxes are going toward building more bombs to kill innocent people in foreign lands, or to a government that endorses having millionaires and billionaires pay less than I do now--which I find intolerably unfair. If I saw the government guaranteeing a minimum living wage for everyone working 40 hours per week, and access to healthcare for every American citizen, then paying those taxes would be worth it.

If you feel that way there are plenty of charities that will take your money. Many Americans feel differently. The government can't guarantee a living wage. First of all, that varies by where you live. Second or all, the government does guarantee the opportunity to earn a living wage. All you have to do is make the effort to learn a needed skill. With under 4% unemployment, jobs are plentiful. As for healthcare, anyone can go into any public hospital in America and be treated. Health insurance does not equal healthcare. Ask the millions who have Medicaid and can't find a doctor who will accept it.

Individual charities can help in small, local areas, but aren't an answer for an entire nation. The amount of the "living" wage can vary from state to state or even city to city. There should be a mathematical formula to calculate it for each region based on cost of housing, food, gas, etc. The fact that you noted many doctors don't or won't accept Medicaid shows it's not adequate for the job. A national Medicare program for everyone with open opportunities for buying additional insurance coverage available for everyone who wants it, would be a nice basic solution. I'm not proposing killing off insurance companies, but I am supporting a national Medicare program as a guaranteed basic policy for everyone so we are not all dependent on the wacky and expensive insurance companies, and subject to their business decisions controlling our healthcare. Also, the current system of providing medical care thru emergency medical units is 1) more expensive than a national program covering everyone would be, and 2) stresses the emergency care facilities and medical staffs by over demand on both. This is not an answer to our needs either. The sooner we actually work to find real solutions, the better.

If all the people who "care" put their money where their mouths were, it could be an answer.
Put your hand in your wallet and pull out your money.
Get your hand out of my wallet

Based on your post, I assume it would be appropriate to conclude that regardless of the issue or circumstance, there will always be a substantial minority of individuals in every conceivable population who simply don't give a damn about anyone else other than themselves.

Or some of us that actually help real individuals with our real time and our real energy and our real resources, and don't simply demand that others pay on their behalf

By the way, are you going to volunteer to pay the max tax rates so that you can "care" as much as those who do pay those rates?

I feel we'll have a better community and a better country when we eradicate poverty and open access to medical treatment for all our citizens. Yes, I'm willing to pay my share to make this happen. Having a substantial percentage of our population living in squalor & poverty is no benefit to this nation or any of its citizens--even the wealthy.

First of all finding a doctor who will accept Medicare is not much easier that finding one who will accept Medicaid. Doctors hate the red tape and low payments involved with any government program. Second, you act like Medicare is some type of entitlement program. It is not. Money is extracted from every paycheck to pay for it. I worked for over 40 years. Therefore, I payed dearly for this benefit. Why should some bunghole who never worked or contributed to this program be given access to this benefit? If those people would spend the money they spend on tattoos, drugs, alcohol, tobacco and other luxury items on health insurance there would be no need for others to carry their water. In addition, if they are too lazy, intoxicated or retarded to better themselves why should that become my problem?

In addition, you must not realize how inefficient any government ran health program is. Medicaid costs over twice as much as the average healthcare insurance policy. Medicaid cost the tax payers about $600 billion a year. It covers about 20% of the population. That means a three trillion dollar price tag if it included everyone. The US government will take in about 2.3 trillion in taxes this year. If every other expense and program was dropped, we would still be $700 billion short. To some of us that doesn't seem practical.

What you and many others do not realize is that "people who work deserve to live better than those who don't".

First, I see that you have the tendency to demean those less fortunate than yourself. Regarding everyone who is unemployed as "lazy, intoxicated or retarded," is rather harsh and judgmental--not to mention inaccurate. I've had periods of unemployment that lasted months, when I couldn't find a job to save me, and I'm neither lazy or retarded--and I don't drink alcohol. Sometimes life sends you lemons, and you have to deal with it the best you can. That doesn't make you a slimebag.

If government programs are so inefficient and insurance companies so efficient, why haven't insurance companies found ways to offer universal healthcare insurance affordable for everyone? Why do we have to go to government for solutions?

    What's your share.
There is little reason to remain in squalor.
    This country provides ample opportunity.
Not my job to motivate another or give them freebies.
That won't solve poverty. It perpetuates it
