To be fair (not that I want to), this early resistance was happening all around the world. Our Govt (in this country, not yours) did the same thing. Lots of early confusion, mixed messages, half-truths, uncertainty, and daily changes. But there came a point it was obvious that a hard decision had to be made. For unknown reasons, your Govt chose not to make that hard decision. We could very easily have gone the same way as America, but for that decision.

There's no real evidence for that. Even dem governors like Coumo and Newsom complimented Trump on his rapid response to their needs.

Soon after Trump ordered the China travel ban in late January, Pelosi and the dems passed a bill that would have repealed it. Biden called the ban "xenophobic".

    https://www.cerescourier.com/opinion/editorial/biden-flips-china-travel-ban/

Former Vice President Joe Biden now says he supports travel bans to contain the Chinese coronavirus after all – after he previously called the China travel ban issued by President Donald Trump in late January “xenophobia.

We should all be thankful that Biden and Pelosi weren't running the show back in January; or there would have been far more lives lost than have been lost.

I tend to agree with you. I can't see how having a Democrat leader in this pandemic would have changed much. While the guy in the big chair might have made different noises, the lack of action would probably have been the same. Every American leader is thwarted by their people. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

Ihave absolutely no doubt Hillary Clinton's response would have been miles ahead of Trump's hunches. My physical therapist has a daughter who worked in the state department when Clinton wassecretary. The daughter gives Hillary rave reviews. Rex T. was good, but Pompeo is a disaster The daughter couldn't get out of there fast enough. She grew tired of trying to patch up all their screw-ups. She transferred over to defense.

And had she done what needed to be done (national lock-down, New Zealand style), what do you think the public's response would have been? The riots you're seeing now could well have been ten times worse.

If you're suggesting she'd have done less, then she would have failed to contain it just as Trump has failed to contain it.

You think the country would have stood by and locked down without a single death? We only had a handful by the end of February.

You do realize the ban was made after dozens ( at least 40 ) had returned from China. Why ban travel when the virus is already here? It's kinda like closing the barn door after the horse has escaped.

When a nation closes borders at the SAME TIME that they go into lockdown, those 'dozens' already in the country don't turn into millions. It doesn't matter when you close borders, as long as it's done ... and as long as it's simultaneous with lockdown.

Yes I can. These are the actual Tweets.
If you’re a Trump supporter which you seem to be, you wouldn’t be trolling. You’d be embarrassed. This sht is public record available everywhere. Obviously, while he’s deniying, he’s doing nothing.

    February 24
Trump tweets, “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA.”

    OFFICIAL US ACTIONS
    February 25
Messonnier, the CDC official, says it is inevitable that the coronavirus will spread in the US and that Americans need to prepare for disruptions to their daily lives.

    TRUMP COMMENTS
    February 25
Trump tells reporters during his trip to India that the virus is “a problem that’s going to go away.”

    TRUMP COMMENTS
    February 26
At a White House press conference, Trump defends his administration’s response to the coronavirus but also contradicts the assessment from the CDC that the virus will definitely spread throughout the US. Trump says, “I don’t think it’s inevitable. I think that there’s a chance that it could get worse, a chance it could get fairly substantially worse, but nothing’s inevitable.”

I answered your question. You asked IF could. You didn’t ask me to do it.....which has been added by the way. You having fun in the typical, denying the obvious ? You guys are funny.

It’s like Trump is completely oblivious to what his own agencies are doing.

That can be dismissed as a COVID-19 timeline, given that it begins in 2017! A better title would've been 'Trump ADMINISTRATION'S pandemic readiness timeline.' Even then, the timeline should be broken at 2020, at which point 'COVID-19 timeline' would absolutely apply. Anyway, with this, you haven't supported @dagosa's claim that Trump was "instructed by the CDC on the matter early on." Look, there are clearly things that this administration could have done differently to better prepare for a pandemic, but the failure to be ready for one goes back to at least the Bush administration. As for the Obama administration? Well, the pandemic playbook plan certainly looked to be a good start, but it should be noted that it was only devised five minutes before he left office, and there was no guarantee that it wouldn't have been dropped just like it did in this administration - we'll never know.

This is just a bunch of his stupidly positive 'everything is rosey' comments. So what? What damage did they cause, other than to himself? He banned travel from China in January, so clearly he took it at least somewhat seriously.

I wouldn't say totally oblivious, but I would certainly hope that he doesn't make CDC decisions that he's not qualified to make. If Trump was in charge of the operations of ANY US health related agency, then there would be no more America.

And you now have all the factual information. That trump minions continue to troll like Russian bots, is their problem, not ours. We’ve been consistent for three years. Trump was, is and will continue to be a buffoon whose job is to be an asset to every third world stooge who has financed his idiocy. Best of luck trolling.

You are now pretending that Trump is not responsible for acting or not on the advice of the cdc. That’s funny. He’s doing nothing NOW, but tweeting and anoucing absurd sht all the time. The nation is rudderless.
