I currently go to the Community Health Centers in my county and I get a sliding fee scale paying $25 and $10 for most tests and I get my fast acting insulin for $10 a vial at their pharmacy. But my budget for medical care is $100 a month this for everything something saved for example to cover dental care later must be set aside, needles, drugs, visits and tests and so forth. I tried to get the strong hint money is an issue if the doctor wants me to see her and another provider its going to eat into my limited funds but should I lay it out for my primary care provider. I'm seeing their financial assistance person so I plan to tell her exactly my budget bringing in that on paper so they know how bad the situation is.

And should I be insisting they first go to the Walmart $4 drug list and bring the pharmacy card to check the price of other drugs I'm willing to spend more on say a good antibiotic from time to time. But its important they keep the cost down when they can and I may need to decide what drugs are very important and what I might have to go without.

I just am not sure any advice from medical providers is welcome and to make this more a discussion should medical doctors train to provide care based on ones budget in school? I think that would be vital to offer the best possible care might make such care unaffordable over other options maybe older approaches out of favor.
