This English man gives us a lesson how he has lived pass 100 years. It is very informative, there are TWO big secrets, and it can help many Americans.

If I thought I had to live forever I'd shoot myself. I've done a fecking nuff here, I'm exhausted and there is no way I even want to live to be 100.

Edit] Buster died, btw. There was some doubt about the veracity of his age claims.

In other words, genes are the main thing. The rest requires you to be a statistical anomaly. I won't get 102 even if I could, Solutions to national healthcare cost containment problems will have taken care of that possibility by then,

I plan to suck-start a shotgun on my 60th birthday, on the off chance I make it that far.

I don't think it's just genetics. My Gran lived to 96, but my Dad died at 51.

She had a hard, hard life in days when men were tough. Thinking of the physical changes to lifestyle between her times and my parents times, you'd think she wouldn't have lasted past her 40s....she had no central heating and had to light a fire every day and never owned a washing machine. Well she wasn't keen on gadgets  and even when she lived with us, she kept nicking my jeans and hand washing them. She had no double glazing, no car, had to carry her shopping home and had to walk between shops to get it in the days when shopping centres weren't covered and protected from weather, she waited out in wind and weather for buses, etc etc etc.

My family started off like that, but because my Dad was a clever man who acquired all kinds of skills and qualifications the house had everything, we had cars and my mother drove since I was 2, I remember coal fires but the central heating et al went in quite early and they never ever had any money problems. On the face of it, my parents should have been healthier, they ate very well and followed all kinds of health pursuits like swimming, cycling, sailing and golf, had anything they wanted in terms of comfort and should have been the most relaxed and fit people on the earth but...they're dead in their 50s.

My other Gran was in her seventies when she died, but she had a lifetime of ill health due to an early health issue and an incompetent doctor, so it doesn't really relate.

They said my Dad had a cancer personality. He was very hard on himself, very professional and capable, a tough guy who internalised everything and took responsibility for everything and helped many people in his life when he did not have to. He was super intelligent, so he knew everything and saw what others did not. It put a lot of strain on him, I think. Selfish people maybe live longer, unless they are the strange hermit types who don't look after themselves physically.

I think it's always a shock to people who are disciplined and "keep themselves fit", to realise they die like anyone else.

I'm away to eat chocolate. This is depressing.

Not forever, but I did promise my beautiful wife 150 years. Well so far I have given her 32 years and that leaves only 118 more to go. Wonder how far I will get.

Off topic but, is it yourself who has a habit of using the phrase "Oh my" from time to time? Only I'm reading 50 Shades of Grey and it's totally ruined it because the girl keeps saying "Oh my" when you're supposed to be getting heated but I just keep flashing back to this forum...

I always thought and have said here, that I'll jump off the Erskine Bridge if I get terminal cancer. That film director has kind of taken the good out of it (God rest him) but I still might do it. Rather die on a high.

60's a bit previous though, is it not? People live longer these days, push it up to 80..?

Considering the physical problems I already have (I have not hit age 40 yet), my chance of seeing 60 without being in a wheelchair or totally senile is slim.

Maybe jumping the gun a bit. Take it or leave it, I don't know your health issues, but I've seen people have a temporary blip at that age and come out of it quite well. Almost like your body's way of advising you can't hammer it forever.

People sometimes go through a spell of ill health caused by doing too much under too much stress and the body just calls a halt. Some of them do die of stress related illness, have breakdowns and near misses etc. But often they learn to live different, but happier lives.

If you believe in God then is not only possible but highly probable and I do mean forever. If you don't then good luck. At the rate this world is going I am not sure that life on each forever is such a good idea.

Well according to the man in the OPs video, 'beer and homosexuals', was responsibile for his longevity.

I can only take his word on that.

at first I wasn't sure, until I read the caption at 1:15

Two bad knees, a bad shoulder, back problems, between four and a dozen (or more) concussions, one probable skull fracture, broken ribs that never healed properly...by 60, I expect to be a wheelchair-bound cripple or completely senile.

Why woulnd't you? you haven't done everything there is to do in life. Not even the richest man on earth has done everything there is to do.

I would LOVE to live forever. never stop learning and thinking and growing. Maybe even discover a way that mankind can finally reach the deepest part of the Ocean.

People don't live forever because they can't adapt to evolution.

    Longevity Traced to Grandmothers
October 24, 2012 - In modern society, grandmothers are often called upon to babysit. But a few million years ago, when primate grandmothers first started doing that, they apparently had a major impact on human evolution. Scientists believe it’s a big reason why we live much longer than other primates. It’s called the “grandmother hypothesis.”

In my opinion, each individual is unique and it is by chance that someone lives to be 100 or over.

We should all live our lives having as much fun as possible every day. Within reason that is one should stay responsible. I'm 50, I've been rode hard but I have hundreds of stories. These stories aren't free tho I've got scars as well and my body feels much older. But hey, it's almost over.
