So…why should we listen to someone like Tucker? In an earlier age anyone making this much open support of a long time anti-democratic enemy of America would be under a close watch by the CIA.

Certainly someone with as loud a voice as Tucker has must have Putin having little mini palpitations every time he thinks of Tucker and the division he is sowing

Well, as long as it hurts Biden and the Dems, Tucker will root for Putin all day long. Because this is what it is all about: Us vs. them. Us, the American RW Trumper "patriots" vs. them, the Dems who want to destroy America. If "us" means it includes a foreign dictator, only because there can be political gain made to hurt the Dems, all the better.

And these people still claim to be pro American patriots. In reality, they would tear America down, if it only meant to own the libs.

Tucker is an opportunist and certainly knows where bread is buttered. Vlad and The Brainy Don have hooked the world on laundering Russian mob dollars. They are a match of convenience.

 

He gets money agreeing with Russias talking points. It’s not more complicated than that.

Carlson’s documentary depicts Hungary as a conservative paradise with strong pro-family policies that has vanquished illegal immigration through its border fence. And the Hungarian-born Soros — shown only in black and white — is a villain who has spent billions trying to eliminate national borders and more generally fighting an ideological war against the West.

But if Tucker Carlson is here to inform Hungarians that George Soros is waging war against our country, he’s a bit late: We have been getting the same message from our government for years.

As a native Hungarian and resident of Budapest, I’ve watched since 2010 as Orbán, an ally of Donald Trump and Fox News favorite, has modified election laws to favor his party, curbed freedom of the press (leading me to lose my job more than once), cozied up to Russia and China, passed anti-LGBTQ laws and waged a war against migration. All the while, George Soros has been a convenient bogeyman.

His affection for authoritarian governance, anti-immigrant nationalism, using propaganda to establish a perceived enemy of the people.....while Orban has modified election laws to favor his party, curbed freedom of the press (Trump wanted to), cozied up to Russia and China, passed anti-LGBTQ laws and waged a war against migration.......it all has a somewhat familiar ring to it.

What's more dangerous? That Faux provides Tucker a platform to promote an essentially anti-democratic message using disinformation and overt propaganda? Of that he has the #1 show there that appeals to today's American conservatives?

Not to go off topic, but speaking of how misinformation spreads look at the "Hillary was spying" story that was spun out of Durham's filing about 10 days ago. It's a great example of how right wing media told what are demonstrably false, bald faced lies about what it said.......which were immediately accepted as fact by an audience eager to accept anything that feeds their hatred for Hillary.....their bogeyman.

CNN and Politico reported this past January that Vice President Kamala Harris, then the vice president-elect, had to be evacuated from the DNC headquarters when a pipe bomb was discovered outside. CNN later added more to the story, revealing that Harris had been within yards of the bomb when she initially arrived at the building.

About a month after this news broke, Carlson and his compatriots in the January 6 Truth movement began to push back with unfounded conspiracies. I can guarantee that despite the "Hillary spied" narrative being completely debunked we will be seeing references to it in the future as if it were true. Once planted in the right wing lexicon these lies take on a life of their own such that they can not be extracted.

 

That’s why I don’t think it actually matters if Clinton spied or not. It doesn’t mean Clinton spied anymore. It means something else like “the government is spying on us”.
