So why doesn't Trump go after the businesses who are importing the illegal cheap labor? He said he doesn't need big donors, so what's stopping him? He's never even mentioned the big donors / big businesses. Why is that?

Fair question. However, it is the job of the federal government to enforce border security first and foremost. Going after individual businesses is something that shouldn’t have the attention of any sitting POTUS. More of a local issue, with federal statutory laws applied.

We have two borders, it’s best to focus on the one that’s the biggest problem first don’t you think?

Illegals get welfare. A wall may have stopped him from coming here and killing two people in a drunk driving incident by we will never know.

no it won't. And it's not about liking or disliking. It's about billions of dollars spent on something that won't work.

Walls and fences and electronic monitoring combined with military force do work

But I agree it will cost money

we have walls and fences in places now, and they still get in. electronic monitoring? What military force? You think it's a good use of resources to place tens of thousands of US soldiers about a 100 ft. apart across the entire US border with mexico?

The only reason we have a military is to defend the nation

And we have more than enough to seal the border with mexico

But the physical barriers will make it easier

    the nation isn't under attack.
no we don't, nor do we have enough money to increase the size of the military to do so.
    no they won't.

Because illegal immigration is a result of economic draw. Illegal immigrants don't simply scurry across the border in between checkpoints; they take cars, boats, and airplanes to legal points of entry on student visas, tourist visas, and worker visas, then overstay their permitted time. They wouldn't be able to do that if they weren't being paid under the table by businesses who found it financially advantageous to pay hard-working, undocumented immigrants over spoiled, lazy, demanding Americans.

So which is it? Do we want a cheaper and more productive labor pool, or do we want to slow immigration?

Up to 40% of illegal aliens arrived in the US legally

But 60% “scurried” across the mexican border

If we pick the low hanging fruit first the other 40% will be easier to deal with

Your numbers are suspect, but even if I give you the benefit of the doubt, what do you think that other 60% are coming over here for? To work jobs that American businesses are willing to pay them for, no documents necessary. If they couldn't find work here, they wouldn't bother. More importantly, as long as they can find work here they will continue to circumvent whatever obstacles the government tries to erect - even a $30 billion wall.

I think you will find the numbers are accurate

We have enough unemployed Americans to do the jobs that illegals are doing now

And if we dont a gurst worker program is possible

But only one that is run and controlled by us not the mexican drug gangs

If it's a "wall" or nothing, frankly, I'll take nothing.

I've argued in favor of armed surveillance drones patrolling the border, along with strips of land mines many miles long, but evidently it is beyond the imagination of anyone in government to understand how much better this would keep illegal invaders out than an idiotic 30-foot-high "wall" running through hundreds of miles of the most hostile, uninhabitable mountain-desert terrain in North America! How many billions to build it? How many billions to STAFF it? How many billions more to maintain it? I know that country, having jeeped through it many times... and that is the only reason why I'd rather have NOTHING than a stupid, f*cking "wall"....

With the "nothing" approach, I would, however, issue lots more weapons to Border Patrol personnel, along with orders to shoot-to-kill anyone crossing the border illegally. Harsh, but more effective than "fighting with one hand tied behind our backs"... and, no more 'harsh' than the murders and crimes committed by illegal aliens in this country.

Oh, and what I would do to American employers who hire illegal aliens would be even worse than that!

I disagree. The 40% would be far easier to deal with as we know their names, dates of birth, country of origin and have a nice photo from their passport.
A quick search of the DMV records should locate many of them who got ID's or licenses.
I may be wrong but if you overstay a visa it's grounds for immediate deportation, no chance of claiming refugee or asylum status.
    But I could be wrong.

We are being invaded by illegal aliens

    That qualifies as an attack

not really, and even if we were, it's an immigration issue. It's not an attack on the nation.

    no it doesn't.

Ahhh, that old chestnut. Just goes to show that if a dimwit hears something he likes, and repeats it enough, he actually starts to believe, regardless of it being complete B.S.

Of course, this is where you implement Donnie Sh1tstain tactic #1, and scream "Fake News" in a girlish voice.
