If applying at the border, without a valid visa, they should only be allowed to apply for asylum but be denied entry to the U.S. until which time their application has been approved which would require them to have entered Mexico legally to remain there while they wait. Thos who possess a valid U.S. visa should be allowed to enter and apply for asylum, but allowed to remain only if their request for asylum is approved OR they maintain a valid visa. Perhaps they should also be required to purchase a health care plan and show proof of adequate monetary resources or an American citizen willing to sponsor them financially as a requirement to remain as a non-citizen.

If Hispanics are leaving sanctuary cities as Trump has indicated, He can arrest 'em as they leave, yes? I know for a fact that citizens
are leaving for Nevada since I have a home there.

Imagine if that was the requirement, and people were actually fleeing for their lives. Telling them to wait in a war-zone (if there was one) for a couple of years until the application clears would defeat the purpose of the process.

Obviously in this case there is no war, and Trump admin has already installed a "last in, first out" policy, where the applicant needs to have all supporting documentation at hand while applying, or else the application wont be accepted. The "caravan" people do not have such docs, so their applications wont be accepted.

Nothing prevents Trump from arresting them inside the cities. No need to wait for them to leave.

The issue with sanctuary cities is the fact that they are declining to perform tasks which the Federal government is supposed to do. Miami said they didn't want to carry the Feds water either unless they were paid to do so. It was becoming a major expense to the taxpayers in Miami to house people until the Feds bothered to come down and process them.

If they were fleeing for their lives they would have stopped in Mexico.

I see that you are a new member and please understand that the Trump flock is devoid of compassion, empathy, and logic in many
areas. They simply excuse Trump's divisive, obnoxious, denigrating conduct and try to rationalize it. So be aware.

They chose to come here, so now we have to deal with them. We can't wish them away.

Actually, it is more difficult to arrest them inside the sanctuary cities because of the resistance. I agree that the expense to house them is a problem.

Yes, I have prior experience. We have our share of them here in South Florida. As a matter of fact, it seems like the mighty MAGA Bomber himself might be from around here.

Except for the fact that they have removed themselves from "a war-zone (if there was one)" by entering Mexico (legally or illegally as the case may be), so they might first seek asylum in Mexico if there illegally, or be permitted entry into the U.S. if they possess a valid entry visa.
So the "caravan" people should serve as an example of how not to gain entry to the U.S. allowing Mexico to determine how to handle them.

If any particular applicant for asylum is found not to have a legitimate concern for the safety of herself and her family, of course.

They are unfortunately aware of that, and so when they get 150 miles away, they will break up into 100 groups of 50 and fan out.

Okay, you're in charge. What would you do specifically to control the border. Remember that children can't be separated from their
Parents and that no one can be held indefinitely in detention. Not can they be deported without a hearing before an already overworked immigration judge.

Hopefully we have enough eyes in the sky when they get close. I think Mexico too understands that they better do their job when they get close to our border. Trump won't put up with their crap much longer.

Trump is keeping the Judge network low to make asylum more difficult and confusing, and for an excuse to maliciously treat these people.
I cannot come up with a way to control our borders but Trump's way ain't dainty. And I am not in charge of anything. I feel for these people who are desperate. You?

Of course, but the "keeping judge count low" is an absurd charge. The reason I ask "what would you do" is to see whether it is fair to criticize Trump. If you can do better, step up. If you can't ....

Not quite sure what you're getting at here. I have no reason to believe this isn't true. With illegal immigration comes rising crime rates which would drive many good people out of sanctuary cities. Are you suggesting this is a good thing?

Why else would he have only one immigration judge to handle all these cases? Is this included as his way of reducing the bureaucracy in government? If so, we won't be able to enforce our laws, and this a perfect example. It is certainly fair to criticize Trump. I don't have access to the advisory personnel that Trump has access to, so of course I don't have a better idea. One way to help resolve the issue is to increase the number of immigration judges to relieve the congestion, yes? And I was very aware of the reason for your question "What would you do".

Actually the Dem congress has been trying to keep the judge network low because they don't want more originalists appointed. DT has been trying to get through as many as he can. With congressmen wanting to get home to campaign the GOPs have been able to get through a few more recently.

Californians are leaving the state in droves and are moving to Nevada. This has nothing to do with sanctuary cities, so I assume that Trump meant that Hispanics are leaving the sanctuary cities.

Actually, no. The judges are there to process the applications and Trump made no move to increase their presence until recently if at all
because there were immigration judges that could have been reassigned before the last migration.
