So we have nurses queueing up at food banks, mentally ill people committing suicide in prisons because there are no mental health facilities for them, a national health service in meltdown because of over-population, nursing homes for the elderly and infirm being closed until they'll no longer exist, sink holes in the nation's roads, youngsters being stabbed to death in our streets and parks almost daily, and the list goes on. But hey, the scientists will be alright, and it's good to know we have our priorities in order: they'll have enough taxpayers' money to go looking for rocky exoplanets and hopefully find alien life on them.
