Category 4 Hurricane Harvey's Landfall Imminent; Catastrophic Rainfall Flood Threat; Strongest Texas Coastal Bend Landfall in at Least 47 Years Prayers go out to those in its path! https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/hurricane-harvey-forecast-gulf-coast-texas-louisiana
Hang in there sweetheart. I'm pulling for you. My classmate from high school is in the DFW area. Expecting only some wind and rain. Prayers for him too.
The rain totals are the hardest part to imagine. 15 inches so far (from Corpus Christi to Houston) and up to 40 inches or more? Scary. I hate to sound like just an impartial observer (I will pray, too) and kind of a dunce, but does all that rain come down as fresh water or salt water, too?
And Trump just pardoned Joe Arpaio and signed the transgender EO ban in a disgusting moment of political opportunism.
Never heard of salty rain. There is salt water spray forced by the wind but salty rain is not something that exists on this planet.
Thanks. I probably wasn't paying attention in high school science class. Every part of this country has its own nature's perils. In Minnesota, long winters : ( Earthquake regions, about the least desirable for me. Then hurricanes.
Texans will help each other as much as possible. If you're a stranger in need of assistance, there's no better place to be than Texas.

According to this article the hurricane will affect more black people than white people. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/20...lacks-in-Texas-but-no-one-is-talking-about-it I wonder if they will be regarded as strangers so that they will get the needed assistance?
New Orleans and Texas are two different animals. I dont look for another Katrina no matter how bad it gets.
Why would you wonder that? Your bias perhaps? If anyone of character (nearly all NATIVE Texans), is in a position to help anyone struck by this disaster, they will. This event is not an excuse for casting aspersions.
Governor Abbott opens Texas state parks to hurricane evacuees. Hurricane Harvey evacuees can stay for free in Texas state parks. Please call parks to check availability. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/evacuee-parks
I just beat all of the traffic leaving Houston this morning. They are in major prep mode and shutting down businesses so the employees can prepare. I'm safe in DFW now.
Lefty tears are salty and fall with the intensity and frequency of rain. Seriously though, stay safe Texans.
Biggest one in about 50 years. I remember Carla back in 1961. I was a little kid then. I was living near Wichita Falls TX back then.
