Those able to legally own a firearm should be able to own whatever firearms they can afford, as is their right under the Constitution.
The purchase, ownership and possession of said firearms, harming no one and placing no one in a condition of clear, present and immediate danger, should be free from infringement, also as per the Constitution.

Except the 2nd Amendment applied to cannons. They were considered firearms but they aren't portable.

Within the first sentence is the qualifier "portable". Neither of those are really "portable" anymore than a cannon is.

I am not here to ask a question, but to share a story that will make you go mad and full cray-cray. Ragnar Skanåker is the name of a legenday Swedish "sports-shooter" who has won several Olympic medals and now that he is over 80 years of age, he wants to hand his gun collection to a sports museum, but due to Sweden's strict gun laws, he is not allowed to do this and has now been forced to put his collection for auction on the international market.

 

This is what happens when legislatures pass laws not based on reason, but fallacious appeals to emotion, ignorance and/or dishonesty.
