    Why, you want the sewer?

How is it hyper-partisan to observe the simple truth? Cons used to be about old-fashioned values, tough but tempered by basic human decency. Ronald Reagan was a good example (sometimes). Now they're about low taxes and bigotry and little else I can see.

Now it is all about trump. The republican party doesn't exist anymore.

And trump is all about trump. ANYONE who rejects trump is labeled human scum by trump himself.

A strawman would be a good name.

It's called solidarity. Both parties do it, always have, always will. In other words, a "fact of life." Many are distasteful.

One possible exception is Ted Chappaquiddick Kennedy running to defeat President Jimmy Carter for the nomination in ... 1976, I think.

How is that a strawman? If you cut off my only source of income I have to buy food with what else can I do?

“Used to be”? Maybe YOU used to be a person instead of a block-headed partisan drone. Maybe you are looking for problems everywhere but where you should. We will never create more unity in our country with attitudes like yours.

Sad but true. Many American Taxpayers want to save their money even at a cost of hundreds of thousands or millions of lives.

Thank you. Indeed, my situation is not good. But about 10 million people in USA with Severe Mental Disability have an order of magnitude worse.

Both Liberals and Conservatives have friends within their party.

I have very significant disagreements with both sides.

It may be an appearance. I find it is the lefties who ply the double standard. Yes it was Tory policy, with the full support of the Lib Dems (in UK) but it is lefties or ordinary, non-political people who care more for their dogs. I proved it on Facebook.

I find the two-faced hypocrites to be the problem regardless of party.

You are casting my desire for autonomy as a desire to starve you. There are other sources if food besides food stamps or whatever it is you think you need from the government. There are neighbors, churches, relatives, your garden, and secular food banks. It's hard to starve to death in America. Does it happen? Yes, to children of psychos.

You sound reasonably intelligent. Are you saying you cannot find a job? Any kind of job?

Lol, there aren't millions of people starving in the USA. Many are insecure, but their needs are being addressed by charities and food banks.

Look, the issue is one of degree. Of course people should be helped, but there is another side if the equation you aren't acknowledging, namely, the extent to which they are themselves contributing to society.

You must know that some homeless people are under a bridge because of lack of preparation, vice, and in many cases laziness. Many are mentally I'll but even they aren't starving.

In USA many people with mental disability are homeless. Many of them are dying.

    Shame on us!

We are hamstrung against helping them.

If we forcibly institutionalize them, we expose them to abuse, from corrupt institutions, and get accused of human rights violations. As the saying goes, it's a sticky wicket.

41 Million People in the United States Face Hunger

You have no idea whose needs are being met, and whose aren't. Not everyone has access to food banks or charities.

I read that report. Not a single word about how those food budgets are being spent. All just vague "can't afford food". If I demanded nothing but beluga caviar and lobster (or whatever luxury food I can't afford), would that make me the subject of your pity? Or would that just make me a spoiled brat?

I'll believe people are genuinely going hungry when they're not trying to eat meat/cheese/processed foods/take out/soda/snack foods etc etc. And if they have an iphone in their pocket, or tattoos on their arse, or professional hair styling, or new shoes .. they're out. You get the picture.

meat, cheese, dairy, procesed foods, fast food, soda etc are not needs, they're wants.

Actually, I do. And you're citing food insecurity stats. I said "many are insecure." That's not the same as starving to death.

Your English is flawless: punctuation, spelling, grammar and syntax. You respond intelligently to questions. You navigate this forum well. You state your case articulately.

You know perfectly well that you are "smart."
