Where did I say that? China reacted just like all the other countries in the world. They also ignored warning signs

He praised their president for passing a law that suspended elections and makes him president for life. And then went on to say that we need to have a president for life in the United States, implying that he should be made President for life.

Lighting a trash can on fire is quite a bit different than what the Patriot Prayer, The Proud Boys, and their affiliates were doing. Which was to enter the downtown area yelling, making threats and calling names. They were so offensive that thousands of Portlanders came out to counter protest. It was the anti fascists who stood up to them, pushed back, with the battle cry, “Hate, not in my town”. A sentiment shared by most Portlanders.

The Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys, being the brave tough guys they are, sprayed bear spray at those who opposed them and then attacked. The police even caught a group of them sitting atop a parking garage, with rifles, claiming to be there to provide air cover for their comrades below.

In true conservative fashion, always playing the game of “oh poor me” and false equivalencies, it is quite telling that you see the setting of trash cans on fire, as a form of protest, as somehow worse than a group of violent thugs threatening, intimidating, and violently attacking citizens of a city.

It was rather funny, while the violence was front and center in conservative minds. As the right wing media had been priming them with propaganda, many conservative were claiming that if the anti fascists came to their town, about how they violently resist them. Of course the anti fascists in their heads were not the actual anti fascists, but rather the misleading depictions of them that right wing provocateurs had been feeding them for months.

The reality is however, that if groups like Patriot Prayer or the Proud Boys came to their town, and acted as they do, the conservative would welcome the push back from local kids, not wanting that crap in their town either.

Call it what you want, but from the point of view of the criminal justice system, both locally and nationally, the violent right wing gangs and individuals were unprovoked attackers (I.e. criminals) and that the anti fascists were mostly defending their town against the attacking forces.

That is why the Patriot Prayer gets a nice vacation in Prison, just like Trump’s closest associates, while the anti fascist were only given slaps on the wrist.

So you're cool with people smashing windows, setting fires, and destroying public and private property in Portland as long as they're "fighting fascists" while they're destroying things?

Unions were occasionally defeated during violent confrontations with management, but there was no involuntary servitude in the US.

    Under Communism management organizes labor.

"For him [Lenin] the trade unions were of value only if they were imbued with the Communist spirit. He wrote in one of his articles: “That the unions are made up of workers is not enough. They represent an organization of their class only if they pursue a class line, a class policy.” To saturate the unions with a Communist ideology, to make them into a machine for the prosecution of the Communist line, to subordinate them to the influence of the Communist Party, to control them, to draw into the revolutionary movement, thru them, tens of millions of toilers, to educate the masses — this was Lenin’s aim thruout his policy."

I have been reading up on the history of this, from reading articles in reputable publications, with the Wall Street Journal having a really good article on the subject.

Anyhow, it seems that the WHO was well aware of the situation in China as early as December 31. The virus was not yet fully identified and its method of transmission not yet entirely understood. Nor was the extent of its infection yet known. By January 9th the Chinese had announced the existence of the virus and that a vaccine was in the works. Not publicly, but to the public heath community, officially on January 12.

I would think that the US intelligence gathering community would have been well aware of the existence of the virus and it’s threat at least by January 12 if not much sooner.

The Chinese made no public proclamation until January 20, I think, when they quarantined the area where the outbreak began. Until the quarantine there were only about 40 cases, and then it suddenly jumped to over 600 in a day or two. Soon after outbreaks began to show up elsewhere.

I’ve always thought that one of the primary functions of government is to defend us against threats. If our country’s government was working properly, I would think that the knowledge of the virus would begin showing up in the intelligence briefings the president would receive. That the president would assign the appropriate people to look into and keep him informed. And then to act appropriately.

But that is not what we got. Trump seems to have paid it no attention until the stock markets began to fall. His first instinct was to down play the virus, and to control the information. The folks on FOX assisted him in the endeavor, even joining in how it was a hoax, Democrats trying to once again bring down dear leader and all that.

As far as leadership goes, Trump has proven himself to be no leader. Leadership in this crises has fallen to the governors and mayors of our states and cities. Only after being upstaged by a few governors did Trump begin to take the crises serious, or at least pretend to, often giving false information. But once one realizes that Trump is a bull $&@#er, that he knows just enough to pull a good con, that he really doesn’t care if what he says is accurate or not. He is in over his head and he thinks he can bull$&@# his way out of it.

You are talking about different groups of people. Those who are setting fires and smashing windows are not the same people who are standing up to violent right wing gangs.

Most of those who cause damage end up arrested. The Portland Police are interesting to watch. Mostly they are rather laid back, but they seem to have very good intelligence. Portland is known for public protest, democracy and free speech in action. But there are always those who go too far. It is rather fascinating how the police will go into a situation, and by grabbing a culprit or two, quickly defuse the situation. When the windows were broken during the anti-Trump protests, in the paper a few days later, there were stories of persons being arrested for the damage they caused.

You miss a lot but, states should be in control of how to handle information given to them from the CDC. In case you did not notice, CA is different from WY.

and what happens when a state government Miss handles a situation in causes it to be worse. That's why we have the federal government. To provide a unified response to national issues. If it were up to each individual state any incompetence date could destroy the entire country by causing
    the disease to spread more

Did "states" claim that the virus will disappear in a few days, claim that it is just a cold, claim that seasonal flu is worse? No, this came from the most powerful person in the world

I will give you a bulletin. Some state governors have left it up to each county or town as to how to handle a "shelter in place" request.
Unless you would prefer we have armed military marching in the streets all across America.

So a Chiner born virus (Hardly a FIRST) breaks out and the people run around for 20 days and you think we should have been Johny on the spot? It looks like the 20 day was more then enough time to infect an entire planet and this is Trumps fault?

In that 20 day "LONGER if truth be known" it was jetted all over the place..

It is Chinar. The easy rule to remember is that in the East when a word has “ar” the “r” is not pronounced but a word that has an “a” and not followed by an “r” an “r” sound is inserted. Thus your “car” becomes your “ca”. You drive down to the “ba” to do your drinking. And you go out to the “bawn” to milk your cows. “Drawings” become “drarwings” and “China” becomes “Chinar”. On Saturdays people do their “warshing”. “Darwin” evolves into “Dawin”.

Compare Andrew Cuomo to Trump. Or Galvin Newsom. Trump is no leader. But then many of us saw the con a long time ago. Trump is the president of low expectations. That was put on full display last summer when Trump tried telling Newsom, on national television, that one prevents forest fires by raking the forest floor.

Yes, I think that is a good description of Trump, the president of low expectations. He is like the girl you danced with because all the desirable girls were taken, and you thought she’d be easy. Low expectations.

Well it called soothing the mob.. You and many other seem to think ADDING more doom and gloom to an already 24/7 leftist media campaign is somehow the wise thing to do.. Having a President reassure the nation "With" a few lies is more then appropriate IMHO.. BUT if you need a constant flow of "Mad Max" prediction then simply ignore Trump and tune into MSM and take tums for the heartburn ;)
