I do not recognize Israel's claim over the Golan Heights.

The triumph of Donald Trump's innocence means we can return to politics and geopoliitcs. One prominent issue in recent months has been the actions of our 'ally', Israel. To be very blunt: It's not an ally. It's not a Western democracy, it's human rights are equal to China.

    https://www.hrw.org/world-report/2019/country-chapters/israel/palestine

In addition to spying and attacks on American interests, I refuse to call that nation an ally. In the same manner that the old Soviet Union was an "ally" in WW2. The United States must have standards for itself.

Israel lays claim to the Golan Heights due to its "defensive war" of 1967, but a question must be asked: Is it 'defensive' when you occupy territory? In which case, the Germans were righteous to have declared war on Poland and WW2 shouldn't have happened. Or Japanese conquest and the rape of Nanking were also perfectly justified in a 'defensive war'?

No, let's not mince words: Israel's actions are that of an aggressor, and the territory they seized, they seized by force. Recognizing such an annexation, would require us to say "Yeah, sorry Hitler, you were right.". I do not recognize Israel's claim over the Golan Heights. The Heights are historic Syrian territory, geographically belonging to the Syrians. Thus it means that Israel is still at a state of war(and aggression) against the Syrians, hence the bombing on that side of the country.

Trump shouldn't support war criminals, and that's what Israel is. A nation of war criminals.

There is no excuse for war crimes. Even after WW2, we didn't entirely occupy Germany. Nor did we claim West Germany to be American territory. I'm merely holding Israel to the exact same standards we hold ourselves to. And in those standards, they fall brutally short.

How about holding Israel to standards Israel agreed to hold itself to? Israel is a signatory to and ratifier of the United Nations charter. Said charter bans the acquisition of land via military conquest.

When you are surrounded by nations of proven hostility as Israel is, then standards are different.

Then we should reevaluate calling it a 'democracy', because again: By our standards, they fall short. Let me be clear: I don't wish ill-will on them. But I don't see them as the "Middle East's lone democracy", I see them as the true cousins of Arabia. They should get over their religious differences and be one happy Middle Eastern sect, because that's what they are.

They aren't the West, and we've pulled ourselves into a pretzel trying to pretend they are the West.

They didnt really take them by conquest, they took them in defense. That said, I really dont care. I seriously doubt any of the Gulf nations are dumb enough to tangle with Isreal again. At least not overtly, I do foresee them continuing to fund and train terrorists in Palestine though.

American standards for a "democracy" are not necessarily the last word on that matter.

Israel is far and away the most "democratic" nation in the region.

Iran is surrounded by nuclear powers. Thus, they should have the right to have nukes as well.

Why would we even care? The Israelis are never going to give up the Golan Heights, it’s too strategically important. We should stay out of it. The worst thing Trump could do is recognize Israel’s latest land grab, and unfortunately I see him doing exactly that.

Instead of blocking a vote against this at the UN, we should just abstain, and call it a day. Let someone else be world cop.

They took them by conquest. They can claim the war was “preemptive”, it doesn’t change the fact that it was military conquest.

I am by no means a 'Biblically virtuous woman' & by the standards below... I am lacking. Food for thought though, for those that are able to rise above conflating the messenger (moi) w/ the message, here goes, lol....

Israel and Curses Those Who Curse Israel?
from R.C. Sproul Jr. Mar 31, 2012 Category: Articles

It must be true, because this is what God says, isn’t it? Well, actually God says this, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3).

When God makes a promise we can know that it is certain, and that He will not change. The problem is, however, when we hear Him saying what He did not say. This text does not say that God will bless those who bless Israel, but rather those who bless Abraham, to whom God is speaking. Later, however, in Numbers 24, it gets a little more clear. There Balaam, clearly speaking about the nation of Israel says, “Blessed is he who blesses you, And cursed is he who curses you.”

Pretty much every square inch of land on the planet only belongs to its respective state due to a history of conquest and annexation.

The attempt to monopolise war in the UN is an attempt to create a cartel among current nations ro end the game of musical chairs and cement their power for time immemorial.

This is a subject we have discussed previously as the Zionist state is not and cannot be the biblical Israel. On that basis the curse/blessing promise does not apply to the present government and state.

I'm looking at the picture. That's all I can do. The only country I see with nuclear weapons bordering Iran is Pakistan.

In my opinion anyone attacks a country and loses, they lose the land lost in war. It must be this way because it deters countries from attacking.

It also prevents a victorious country from genociding an occupied population to prevent having to give land pack as a result of "peace" negotiations.

I categorically refuse to be self-righteous, especially at someone else's expense, i will leave it to our leftist snowflakes.... :D

Israel was invaded, repeatedly, by multiple nations, with the explicit goal of annihilation.

Israel despite all odds had an upper hand and in order to prevent future attempts its enemies must never forget that restoration of the status quo is not an option if their attempted genocide fails, that there will always be a price to pay.

In fact the Golan heights is a very small price, the Arabs should celebrate that they got a bargain, Israel could have kept half of Syria.
