That's how confident of myself I am.
    What about you?
And, what do you think of this school of thought?

Agreed, it also doesn't make you a bad person either.

Yes, maybe I should have said, ""and having religion doesn't necessarily make one a good person......"""

It has less to do with confidence than with your misunderstanding of religion.

    It's retarded.

Why don't keep living your life by a book and stop attacking ideas that aren't in your pages.
Obviously this thread is too much for you.

It's retarded to fear something that is new.
It has more to do with your fear @yguy that you've wasted your life with religion than it has to do with me living my life.

I repeat, @yguy, I do not need religion to be a good person, obviously then, anyone who says this is wrong, doesn't understand.

I can't decipher this post, do you mean" why do you keep living your life by a book?"

I don't make that assumption about myself. There's far too much work yet to be done.

It has everything to with confidence. Those who believe in the book have no free will or will of their own and so surrender it to a greater power to do all the thinking for them.

Obviously then, somewhere deep down in them, they need this guidance that I don't need.

How are you so confident that you're a good person?

No you are wrong about that, what you are suggesting is you are the higher power, that's when you get into trouble

I'm not suggesting that, you're suggesting I am because of my ability to be a good person all by myself.
You recognise this ability as powerful where all I see is common sense and you misinterpret my correctness to say I'm a higher power which I'm not, I'm me, somebody who doesn't need religion to be a good person.

Impressive. I sure don't know that (about myself). I'm probably just 'okay'. No worse and no better than the average religious person.

Also, somebody who distrusts somebody who can't think for themselves without the Bible.
Anyone who hasn't the ability to be good without the Bible, is either bad or lost or has special needs.

If you're good, you're good, if you're not, and do **** to piss off people and are a real evil ****, then, you're bad.
If you don't know which one you are, damn.

It's been my experience that good people are good despite religion (or lack of). Were such people somehow prevented from religious belief, they would remain as good as they ever were.

Also, no body has ever need religion to be good. Or if they have, then they're weak and have no will power and are only looking for somebody else to rule them.

And to add on to that, of course I believe in this, and that's how confident I am of myself and who I am.

I can't possibly know what effects the small actions of my life might have on others. There is a lot of space between 'doesn't kill people' and being a genuinely selfless and kind person.

Meantime, assuming my own goodness would make me a lesser human being, because I might stop trying.

And good people who are religious don't need religion to make them good.
