Meh. We all gotta go sometime. I'd be 75. That wouldn't be a bad score.

I'm not in any hurry, but the world wouldn't change if I croaked tonight.

I just went to the BLS website and looked at the numbers. They look great, and very reasonable.

We have had the first 10-year stretch of year-to-year declining unemployment without a recession in memory. We're now at the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. Go USA!

Like @bricklayer said, the government makes it easier or more difficult for companies to provide jobs. We do the rest.

Okay but do you believe Trump colluded with Russia or that there's grounds to impeach him? Do you doubt those numbers because you just plain hate Trump?

And over 40% of American workers make less than a liveable wage at $15 an hour and less.

So is inflation...cost of living increases are minimal. Of course that varies greatly depending on where you live.

Minimum wage is not a good barometer of how well people are doing. You can buy a house in Kentucky for $150,000. The same house in California would cost over $1 million. The mortgage on the Kentucky house would be affordable on far less money per hour. $15/hour would not be near enough money in California to have the same standard of living.

Setting a mandated federal minimum wage artificially interferes with how natural market influences work. Minimum wage mandates cause inflation and the price of all products increase by more than the increase in wages, leaving people the same or worse off. So why not make minimum wage $100, or $1000, or pick any number. How much will a Happy Meal at McDonalds cost then?

The manufacturing index has been contracting for 4 months now. Must be low level jobs or could just be a blip.

lack of regulations worked so well for Bush jr

that is why the banks were in trouble

Bush did not want the regulations either....

    https://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/21/business/worldbusiness/21iht-admin.4.18853088.html

"From his earliest days in office, Bush paired his belief that Americans do best when they own their own homes with his conviction that markets do best when left alone. Bush pushed hard to expand home ownership, especially among minority groups, an initiative that dovetailed with both his ambition to expand Republican appeal and the business interests of some of his biggest donors. But his housing policies and hands-off approach to regulation encouraged lax lending standards."

"Bush Ties Policy to Record Home Ownership" March 26, 2004

    https://www.foxnews.com/story/bush-ties-policy-to-record-home-ownership

"Late last year, Bush signed the American Dream Down Payment Act (search) to help families that can afford monthly mortgage payments but not the down payment or closing costs associated with buying a house. The legislation authorizes $200 million a year in down payment assistance to at least 40,000 low-income families."

Lack of regulation was not the problem, and more regulation is not the solution.
Bush should have never forced banks to give loans to people who could not afford to pay them back.

Bush did not force them to give these loans, he removed the regulations, so they could

when people lost their Job's under the bush economy, they could not afford to pay their mortgage and when housing prices fell, it was better to let them default and buy a new better home as 1\2 the price

how many times has Trump claimed bk? and left his bank with the debt?

When the federal reserve stops printing fiat money to pretend that we are paying interest on our debt and we bring the deficit down to Earth? Just guessing. :)

Yes, well, the financial house of cards is going to fall some day and it will come down fast and hard. While we are waiting for that day, it is much better to be seeing people who want jobs to be able to get jobs with such a low unemployment rate. Everyone, regardless of political party, will have plenty of time to complain when the realization hits that there never was some endless magic money tree for the government to steal the fruit and not add fertilizer.
