This is such an American thing that always made me scratch my head. When I grew up here in Northern Europe, I always played outside with my friends without any parents around. Is it really true this illegal in the US?

 

She was caring for her child. The child wanted to stay in the car playing his game. She cracked the windows, locked the doors and set the alarm on. She was gone only 5 minutes.

The state taking the child away is not in the child's best interests. Quit pretending you care about this child.

That is some crazy level of over-the-top OCD-esque guardianship. How is this justified in the law? Government controls more aspects of life here and is generally more hostile to individual liberty than that of the US, so it is really quite shocking to me to hear this.

A child from a fairly healthy and sane household won't run away and if parents have been present and given directions, they will stay in the neighbourhood (a child can travel to March without moving even a footstep, their imagination is an amazing vechicle). I see no reason to restrict children's playfulness and imagination in such a dictatorial way... As I see it, playing alone with other kids is a vital part of growing up.

That's a bunch of bs. Conservatives dont want an unborn baby murdered, and after the baby is born we spend hundreds of billions of dollars on programs just for kids. Conservatives are consistent on protecting children, liberals only care if they can see the kid.

 

Not to mention candies! If you cannot brush and floss your teeth, you should not be given a 'Skittles' license.

"Political Conservativism" is a Statist idea which makes it Leftist. Real Conservatives believe in natural order, self-ownership and self-responsibility. They believe problems are to be solved on the individual level and in cases that cannot happen, family and community steps in. Political authority is only called upon in extremely urgent and severe situations.

 

Conservatives here call caring about as child's welfare as being a busybody and a BADF thing to do.......Conservatives routinely try to cut funding for entities that aid children like Welfare, WIC, SNAP and don't even want then having healthy food....



No "unborn babies" are "murdered"...and calling abortion murder MEANS conservatives want to interfere in other's lives which the poster I was addressing insisted wasn't true.

 

It is justified under child neglect laws.

Under today's standards in some locales, my parents would have been imprisoned and had their children removed from their custody. Never mined they raised four educated well adjusted adults who are contributing members of society who interned contributed in creating four equally prosperous families containing 12 children who are educated, working and have built or are in process of building their own families. Note, four are still not married, one is in the service and one at OSU, two working fulltime and still single.

Hell by today's standard my wife and myself should have been under the scrutiny of the law in how we raised our children. It must have been blind luck as to our success, as the ways our parents taught us are vastly flawed in the opinion of many.

A lot of you people live in a most strange world IMO.

Times change. When I was a kid, there weren't any car seats for kids. There weren't even seat belts. As a baby, I, rode in a cloth basket with a metal frame that hooked over the back of the car seat. We learned what endangers kids, and made laws to require certain efforts for safety. That's a good thing.

 

Yes abortion is murder. It means we don't want unborn babies to die on the whim of their mother. Conservatives also don't care what the mother does with HER body, but the BABYS body is not hers. It's a living, growing being. If the mother wants to jump off a cliff after birth I certainly wouldn't recommend it but it's her life. But abortion is the same morale equivalent of letting a mother kill her one year old because she doesn't want him anymore. They're both children of the mother, only difference is one you cant see so you dont give a damn.

 

Yet we have a so-called conservative president that interjects his big mouth into every argument or situation of daily life trying to influence the situation..

 

Well, that is what a President is expected to do.
