John is more gnostic- like or so Prof Sutphen told us long ago, or his class rather. I tend to agree.

I do not believe in , well, Parthenogenesis, but think Christ was an avatar like Buddha and Lao Tzu, an enlightened being, with Christ being born enlightened. This is what made him special in enlightened beings who all taught philosophia perennis, the perennial philosophy.

Perhaps - Rasputin comes to mind as well. The disappearing act for 20 or so years and returning at the age of 30 is a common theme among messiahs.

Perhaps Jesus was born normal and studied under various guru's - becoming enlightened later.

It is too bad we do not know more about the real Jesus.

You did refer to the Codex Sinaiticus as a Bible and I looked it up, as it happened to the link that you just provided. So my comment stands. It's a fraud.

The tradition that he travelled all the way to India, Tibet and Nepal actually comes up
in a number of books....... including the writings of a near death experiencer who was shown a lot about his life.

Did Rabbi Jesus/Yeshua learn about healing in India before teaching in Judaea?

As I said before, the copy is a fraud. It's of poor quality so that it's very hard to see but it's written in the modern Greek alphabet so it couldn't have been written in ancient times as claimed.

True... those pages are not available for free but it is only eight dollars and I consider that book to be one of the
best that I have ever purchased.

There are some fascinating stories in Nepal and Tibet and India about a Rabbi like Yeshua travelling to those nations at that time in history. There is evidence that Doubting Thomas travelled there as well.

All three of the following links give some details on that idea......

"I no longer believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus/ Yeshua!"

    Welcome to reality, my friend!
Are you disgusted, like I was as a FORMER Christian, that the authors of the Bible lead you astray and into fantasy-land?

Yes...... but on the plus side......
each aspect of where I had been deceived in the past has value in that it helps me to
better understand how so many people believe exaggerations about what is really meant by
    certain scriptures.

    Cupid Dave...... notice this verse.......

    Isaiah 53:10

"Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."

How does this verse get fulfilled if Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus and Mary Magdalene......
didn't have at least one child?????????

I suppose she claimed to be a virgin because sex was frowned upon in those days? I can't think of any other reason. [IMG] On t'other hand she might have wanted to take all the credit for herself so air-brushed poor ol' Joseph out of the picture?

There's no mention in the story that she had the bloody rag to prove that she was a virgin.

My theory is that the Holy Spirit overshadowed her......
and told her to go and sleep with her fiance Joseph
so that the twins would be born at the correct time......

Messiah claims authority over the Sabbath......
Messiah is Lord over marriage as well.... and in his
eternal form... He was able to plan the time of H-s own
    birth........

The word translated "virgin" in Isaiah.....
    actually means young, unmarried woman......
... which if she was told by the Holy Spirit to go and sleep with Joseph.....
then young unmarried woman is exactly what she was......

    Luke wrote to Gentiles primarily......
and was affected by the theories that were circulating to explain this......

Paul wrote decades earlier and never once mentions the
    Virgin Birth idea......
because it had NOT developed while he was writing letters to churches..........

In the fairy tale Mary represents the Samaritans and Joseph represents the Jews. According to the Old Testament the Samaritans and the Jews were supposed be be unified. The Samaritans had never had a prophet that preached to the Jews. So Mary, representing the Samaritans, was the virgin who gave birth to the Samaritan prophet, Jesus, who preached to the Jews.

Remember, Jesus was accused of being a Samaritan and he acted like one, always heading for the top of the nearest hill or mountain.

I guess that's the kind of stuff they got up to before television was invented; after a long day at the office they got so bored they went looking for mountains to climb and rivers to cross.
