This movie was amazing. I mean it was just amazing. Me and my wife went today and she expecting to not get into it and she was wrong. She was so into the movie and left the theater amazed at how good it was. We both got emotional and I started crying more than 4 times from moments that made me so happy in the movie. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

So for those of you that don't know Dunkirk is about the WW2 battle. Directed by Christopher Nolan who did the Batman trilogy (Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises) and he did an amazing job. The actors really do a good job to and they include Tom Hardy (Dark Knight Rises, The Fighter, Mad Max: Fury Road as Max) and Cillian Murphy (Inception and the Batman Trilogy as Crane) who do really good acting for this movie. Also in it is Mark Rylance (BFG, Bridge of Spies) and Harry Styles from the band "One Direction" who both do amazing acting jobs.

I expected the movie to be about the entire battle but they actually took a different approach and the way they did it left me with a rush the entire time.

So in WW2 Germany invaded Belgium as a diversion to draw the British and French armies into battle. Germany sent a second army through the Ardennes Forest into france and surrounded the armies. The French General De Gaulle led a counterattack from France with tanks but with little air support the German Stuka Bombers stopped the tanks from making much progress.

So the British and French armies were driven to the sea. Trapped at Dunkirk, a town on the ocean the German army surrounded them and then sent in their air force to destroy as much of their army as possible. The few naval ships Britain could spare to evacuate soldiers were being bombed by the relentless German air force. Eventually a large fleet of tiny ships, mostly civilian fishing boats were sent to help. More than 400,000 British soldiers and more than 100,00 french soldiers were trapped on the beaches. For the British soldiers "home" was just across the sea in Great Britain. Many French soldiers were taken prisoner at Dunkirk. After the battle of Dunkirk the Germans invaded and occupied France.

The movie shows how severe the situation really was and is very realistic. This is by far the best war movie I have ever seen and one of my all time favorite movies ever. I loved it and I want to go see it again. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

My wife is not into war movies but she loved it. It just came to theaters this weekend. Don't miss it.

Agreed; thought it was a great movie. Definitely going to see it again in theaters.

Mark Rylance was great. The George story arc was heartbreaking & the Spitfire scenes were epic; the ending to Tom Hardy's arc was epic too.

I don't want to spoil anything and maybe we can discuss this movie further when more people have seen it; but I highly recommend it for everyone of any political stripe.

I saw it on the cinema today and liked it very much too. I mean, nothing really happened, but it was very realistic and I didn't really expect that so it surprised me in a positive way.

    A good film. :)

My wife and I both enjoyed it and even got a little teary towards the end. My daughter on the other hand, was just there to see the One Direction guy, who actually did a pretty good job.

Glad to read the positive reviews.
I will watch for it on cable.

Amazing how many times in the 20th Century,
the Germans unexpectedly attacked through the Ardenne forest.
By my count, once in WW1 and twice in WW2.
And the Allies were surprised and caught off guard every time.
