'I sleep at night': Ex-Trump adviser John Bolton says his testimony would not have changed impeachment outcome

Uh-oh. What will the TDSers say now? They were holding out for Bolton as their latest "we got him this time, just you wait, one more witness and he's toast". Now comes that last bastion and another nothing burger it seems.

"WASHINGTON – Former national security adviser John Bolton defended his decision not to testify in the impeachment process against President Donald Trump and said he didn't believe the result would have been any different if he had.

"People can argue about what I should have said and what I should have done," Bolton said Wednesday during a lecture at Vanderbilt University. "I would bet you a dollar right here and now, my testimony would have made no difference to the ultimate outcome."

Of course it wouldn’t, numerous Republicans even said they know he did it — it was improper — but they voted against the charges anyway.
Facts, or even the appearance of getting the facts made no difference in this trial that allowed zero new witnesses even though several came foward.

    Miscarriage of justice

Your party had 17 witnesses vs. 0 GOP witnesses, they were all denied by Schiff.

Two of the witnesses were called by Republicans.

It can't be. Bolton was a key to the "we got him now" strategy.

National Security Council official Tim Morrison and US ex-special to Ukraine Kurt Volker. I believe US ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland was also but don’t feel like looking it us so we will stop with the first two.

Thanks, Were those two germane to the hearing or were other republican witnesses that were not allowed part of the testimony the republicans were calling trying to keep their case in context?
Don't answer we I know the democrats blocked all the witnesses that would have refuted the democrats carefully prepared witness testimonies.

Don’t ask a question if you don’t want an answer; We are not discussing whether or not they were relevant — just disproving the lie that @Paul7 keeps trying to peddle. Republicans called a minimum of two witnesses, possibly three (just too busy to look it up at the moment).

If Republicans would have been more serious instead of trying to call Schiff, Hunter or other irrelevant individuals then maybe they would have been allowed more — but the fact remains they were allowed witnesses.

Why bother asking if you reject the answer you sought? The answer is no, there were no relevant to the case witnesses the Republicans were denied. If you challenge this then provide us with a list of names of those denied witnesses.

The final defense of Trump was, "He did it but it was no big deal." That's the GOP position.

Bunk, most of the ones they asked for were denied in the House, and the request to see IG Atkinson's report on the fishy origins were denied. It was the very definition of a show trial, guilt was decided beforehand and they pretended to have a fair process.

Wasn't that the Democratic position with Clinton?

So which is it, did they call any [zero as you stated] witnesses or not?

You know it suddenly occurred to me what the Dem Party's nomination winner should use as two campaign slogans -- whether that is Bloomberg buying it or Commie Bernie winning it. "Trump; We've Got Him This Time!" and "Peach forey-fie!" Go with the classics, I say.

OK, I concede to the generousness of the democrats handpicking some 17 witnesses and then blocking all but two on the republican side and those two were vetted first by the democrat majority.
    Sounds good to me.

It was not a "justice" matter and they had 13 witnesses in the Senate 19 in the House. Then once that fell flat everything hinged on Bolton, yea that's the ticket Bolton. And he says he has nothing to say that would have changed the outcome. And he did what, they didn't prove he did anything that was impeachable and Bolton was was the "you just wait" witness says NOPE.

Why didn't Schiff call all the witnesses he wanted, he was in control and was turning down the Republican witnesses.

Agreed. If I were a Republican on that committee I wouldn't have even shown up at the hearings as their outcome was obvious from the day pelosi took the gavel in 2018.
Nice to have an acquittal on the books doncha think?

Strange that you cannot answer a simple question after you — we will be generous and say you just misspoke or were uninformed rather than just lying — and are now asking questions which I have already answered. Such a strange agenda and correlating mental gymnastics to justify that narrative...

The whistleblower was relevant, Hunter Biden was relevant, Schiff and members of his staff were relevant they all played a part.

Because it was largely partisan, I can agree that the impeachment had merits but was handled wrongly by both parties.
