    Don't worry I've been called a lot worse and I have thick skin. By the way the Lakota language really doesn't have any way of insulting, that's why it is beautiful and I'm happy to help keep it alive.

    And let me just add, that this is not a very good place to find dates. Most of the men here are older and married. This is a political forum for discussing politics and not a dating site. :D

    All I can say is that when I was a Mngr. At a McDonalds there was
    this countergirl who was very homely.Also rubinesque { fancy way of
    saying slightly plump }.She was dating another Manager who was
    considered a stud { bragged about his thing every chance he got }.
    This Homely girl also never wore makeup and her *clothes looked like
    they were handed down from her grandparents who lived like Ma
    & Pa Kettle.This Homely plumb chick loved to talk like a Hooker.
    There was this Party being thrown by her at her Stud Boyfriends
    apartment.When the Party was fizzling out { late at night } I remember
    this plumb chick was all set to Swing and take off every stitch of
    clothing.That's when I Lambed-it on outta there.
    She looked and dressed like some woman's prison matron/guard.
    Go Figger.

    * on her days off and when she picked up her paycheck.

    Truth be told, all of us are shallow at some time or another in our life. The right person is out there if you know what to look for and keep looking.

    I married a 9-10 who thought of herself as a 6-7. Her parents were in their 40s when she was born so she had old people values when I met her.(still does) She was also a sucker for a guy in a military uniform. The mother of a girl I knew from my church while growing up gave my wife my address when she worked at the same insurance company for the Summer after her freshman year of college. I was stationed in New Mexico. We wrote each other for 4 months before actually meeting. We exchanged pictures and spoke on the phone a few times. 5 months later, we were engaged and 6 months after that we got married. We lived 500 miles apart up until the day we were married. We'll hit 26 years in October.

    Warning! I am 50 years old and have gained 60 lbs since marriage and am no longer in any way "hot". I am a very good husband and know a good thing when I have it.

    It's your life and you should live it however you like.

    There's nothing wrong with wanting to date attractive people, however, I will say that from my experience that sort of mentality usually tends to fade away the older you get. Not always though.

    This actually reminds me of my best friend who is female. She has the same mentality to where she has a certain "standard" that she wants all of her dates to meet and will only date those who meet a certain criteria. She doesn't know what that criteria is but she "knows it when she sees it" and the guys have to be attractive. But from knowing her for over a decade I know that her criteria is basically tall, dark, and handsome. Well 15 years later she is still trying to find a life partner and has been through more dates and boyfriends than I can count. And she is also very upset because now at her age all of her friends are married and she is still single. My advice to her has always been to simply give people a chance. And my running joke to her is that her soulmate will end up being a short chubby nerd guy or something. (No offense to nerds but shes a country girl who basically wants her husband to be Jason Aldean in the flesh).

    Now I do understand that there has to be some physical attraction there. But physical attraction is only part of the equation and who knows you very well might run into someone who is completely different than anything you've envisioned your perfect guy to be and he will sweep you off of your feet.

    But no your mentality is not unique at all. Plenty of folks are in the same boat. I am a firm believer that the age of the internet and cell phones and all of these dating apps and sites have only contributed to the "problem". With virtually endless selection of candidates folks can simply scroll and look at pictures of people and say "nope, nope, nope, oh they might be good". While they may be accidentally bypassing the person they are actually looking for because they don't "look" like what you think you're looking for.

    You're not alone though, I'm no hypocrite. I've met plenty of women who loved the same things that I do but were simply not attractive enough for my tastes so I didn't proceed any further. I've also been on plenty of dates with very attractive women who were nothing at all like me and attractiveness alone just wouldn't cut it.

    Affection is weird though. I'm a black redneck from the deep south who loves lifted trucks, mudding, fishing, football, and whiskey and the woman friend that I am currently attracted to is a girl from the far north who talks funny like Canadian folks and loves hockey and skiing and all sorts of weird northern people things and she doesn't like to drink LOL. And to be openly honest without trying to sound shallow, she isn't really THAT attractive to me.

    We have basically ZERO in common whatsoever, but for some reason we get along great and for some reason that I have yet to figure out, I am attracted to her.

    I say give it a shot. Who knows the person you fall for may somehow end up being completely different than anything you could have imagined. To this day I'm still trying to figure out what the hell it is about this (pardon).... skinny plain looking Canadian sounding northern girl that makes me stumble over my words whenever we go out to lunch together....

    It's Totally,Like Fer Sure ... Creepy.
    That's the kind of a thing a Serial Killer might say.
    I could visualize Ted Bundy using that line in a bar.

    Oh, I'm only kidding. :hug: Looks are not the most important thing, definitely not. I've liked guys who were definitely less than what would be considered hot, but they were cool or funny or had something else going for them that was way more interesting than just good looks. In fact, I had a crush on this scrawny and maybe what some would consider "ugly" guy when I was in high school. He was so awesome is why! He was cool, he was funny, he rode a motorcycle. :p

    If you put in a lot of effort, there are things you can do to bump yourself up from a 6 to a 7 or 8. (And I'm not talking about plastic surgery)
    It's amazing how much better a person's face can look after the rest of their body becomes more healthy. Getting down to an appropriate weight and a little muscle toning wouldn't hurt.
