I'm not an American. I'm Canadian. And no, I'm not proud of it, though I do feel very lucky for this circumstance of birth.

Again, who got raped? You must be confusing him with Trump.
I don't think me being proud to be an American is nonsensical. We obviously have different standards on what is nonsense.

I'm sorry, was it too much to expect that even after I gave you the source citation that you would read it? You asked the question, I gave not just my answer, but the quotation of the woman who made it. Not enough?

Even though I am not about identity politics, I think America can handle that for the first time ever, a WOC is on a major party's ticket. For centuries, women and poc were excluded from participating in such elections, so it is only fair if they receive a push now. And just saying, I am not a fan of Kamala or Joe or the democratic party.

That is nonsense. I've been around enough decades to know what it feels like when you can't get a job due to racial quotas, reverse discrimination, affirmative action, and backward thinking white people that would side with social liberals that want to continually punish the white race.

I feel lucky to have been born in the country I was born in, but I have no especial pride in being born here because it was pure accident. OTOH, I'm proud of what this country (my country, not America) has achieved.

I could understand you being proud of your nationality if you weren't born in the country you now live and worked hard for the citizenship.

I dont see any sense in being proud of something that is an accident of birth, that you didnt make happen and can take no credit for. Agree to disagree maybe (shrug)

Maybe I am an oddball though. I also dont see my fellow citizens as superior to or more deserving of my sympathy or help than people who were born overseas.

I think its time we retire this new term "people of colour". It just means people who arent white. So why not just say that? "People of Colour" sounds like a painting class.

I can be proud of being a mother (if the kids aren't messed up), I can be proud to be born a Presbyterian because they do good works and I may not be proud of my country if I live in a sh!t hole country as Trump would say. I may live in country that has an administration that will go down in the history books as the most corrupt and incompetent ever seen and we have a disgusting large amount of people who are complicit. It has also shown a large sector of the population who think they are good people are essentially without good ethical sense. Machiavellian people. All that is embarrassing to be sure, but I take the long view and overall, wearing my rose colored glasses, I can be proud of the US of A. .

For Kamala to be angry she'd first have to have ethics and honor and integrity . . . and so, no.

I dunno . . . did he climb the political ladder early on in his political career by ALSO giving Willie Brown blow-jobs, and did he do drugs while bragging that he put people behind bars for . . . doing drugs?

The Kamala pick was a glaringly obvious signal to wall street and wealthy investors in Biden's campaign that he's fully in their pocket. She does nothing at all for the electorate. He could have picked somebody like Sanders, Warren, Yang, etc who are policy wonks and who could have excited the Democrat base to come out and vote, The Republicans were going to pick whoever he chose as a far left nut job anyway. Maybe he chose Kamala because he is afraid of being overshadowed?
