    Preston, Idaho

An Idaho teacher accused of feeding a sick puppy to a snapping turtle in front of several students has been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Preston Junior High School science teacher Robert Crosland was charged Friday. He faces up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted. The school is in rural Preston, where the 2004 teen cult classic film "Napoleon Dynamite" was set.

The Idaho attorney general's office handled the investigation after Franklin County Prosecutor Vic Pearson cited a conflict of interest.

Several parents came forward to say Crosland fed the puppy to the turtle on March 7. Several weeks later, state officials seized the turtle and euthanized it as a non-native species.

So let me get this straight, the charge a man for feeding one animal to another animal, and then the authorities kill the second animal?

Animals are fed to animals all the time. Has anyone here ever owned a snake?
Is it somehow different when the animal you're feeding to another animal is a dog? I don't know, I just see a lot of hypocrisy here.

I put this in the same category as folks who feed baby mice to scorpions that eat them slowly from the hindquarters so the food stays fresh (alive and screaming in pain) longer...

Just because nature is cruel is not a justification for humans to enjoy suffering.

A snapping turtle is very likely a terrible, agonizing and brutal way to die for a puppy. A decent person would euthenize it or at the very least snap its neck. A sane person unable to do either, with only a snapping turtle as backup would not do it in front of children.

I don't want this guy around kids.

This educator is a scumbag and does not have the compassion needed to deal with the youth of today. They are clearly a deranged individual that ought not be educating.

    Get rid of them.

Yes, nature is cruel, it is best to learn this by observing nature than by watching Disney.

So if they were Korean, and fed the dog to the kids, do we euthanize the kids.
