Indeed, America leads the world in deaths from a horrible and agonizing disease that many others barely notice and/or have eradicated entirely. Soon we will bring back smallpox and bubonic plague to further demonstrate our ongoing wonderfulness which we will probably not survive.

I'm not convinced we need to "come together" on the issues. We do need to discuss the issues and give opinions on the issues. Factual and opinionated debate is helpful to see more deeply into the issues. Good ideas should be easy to post. Maybe a pull from the left and a pull from the right keeps us in the middle. What we do need to stop is the name calling and hi-jacking of good well thought-out posts. Most post's subject matter is changed within 3 or 4 posts. That is not helpful.

How about just not abusing them - either by leading them to believe they're entitled to plenty and comfort with nil effort, or by beating and starving them. Consider Govt a parent, and work from there. The Welfare State is 100% abuse, and leads to the same outcomes as deliberate starving.
