To have a chance she has to jump in by very early Tuesday morning and get the machine to orchestrate a sudden write-in campaign the likes of which the world has never seen.

That's her only chance. It's very slim odds but she would have no authenticity doing it any other way -- unless the party goes back to the smoke filled room and throws out the primary elections. With that Oprah could be president.

I believe it's up to us to take care of each other. NOT the government. What on earth makes you think our bloated, incompetent govt can take care of anybody? Like Reagan said, "The scariest words in the English language... I'm from the govt and I'm here to help you."

Uncle Sam can't solve all our problems. But even worse, when govt tries, private money goes to some other cause that's not like pouring water down a gopher hole. I spent 15 years in philanthropy and can assure you that's the way it works.

That's a very different scenario from the one I posted. Of course I wouldn't feel good about that, but I'd rather do it than get shot. But I am willing to pay higher taxes for the social programs being promoted by Bernie Sanders & Eliz Warren right now. I think those changes would make America a better country & a better place for all of us to live.

I agree with your comment that the government can't solve all our problems--no single institution can. But I firmly believe the government can play an important role as one of many assistants in making the lives of all of us better. Too many conservatives conclude the government is inherently evil & dismiss it as a possibility for good in any capacity. But that's blind prejudice & judgmentalism at work, & simply not accurate. Government is a human institution, & like any other human institution, reflects both the good & bad elements of those individuals within it. Government can be a very positive force that can achieve great things under respectful, dedicated leadership. Yet, it can do great harm as well, under selfish, self-serving leadership. Government is what we make it--good or bad.

Current leadership has nothing to do with 40 year federal employees. Our inept govt moves seamlessly between administrations and nothing changes except the name tags of temp personnel appointed by new presidents. You have far too much faith in Big Brother.

If we were discussing your sacrifice then you would be right about the difference but you are talking about my taxes too. You did mention having those funds taken by force? How is that different from the masked guy with gun? Robbery is robbery. Bernie is talking pennies on the dollar and he's talking ****. Warren doesn't even try to put a price on it so she's more honest than your old Commie but then that whole ideology is a lie. All you have ever had to do to know that is just watch the direction the refugees run.

Professional government workers cannot afford to become political. That would destroy their capacity to continue programs that need functionaries whenever the political parties changed. I've known many government workers in my life & most of them were good, dedicated workers who cared about their jobs & the quality of work they did personally. I disagree with your apparent conclusion that most government workers are inept. I DO see ineptitude today in our current President & his personal appointees, but NOT those professionals who serve under them.

The reason you feel that socialism is a lying ideology is because you lump both socialism & communism into the same category. That's a result of the successful propaganda campaign to confuse the two together during the Cold War. But that propaganda lied, & you are a victim of those lies. There are good examples in W Europe of countries who have blended aspects of capitalism & socialism together with a healthy regard for democracy & human rights successfully. Those countries rank highest in polls for happiest citizens anywhere in the world, so that pretty well destroys conservative arguments that socialism is somehow inept or inherently defective.

You see incompetence where you want to see it. Trump has done an outstanding job of implementing his policies and changing some basic patterns of government. He's doing all of it within a **** storm like I have never seen. He isn't paranoid, everybody in Washington and the media really are out to get him.

They are the same. Both end up totalitarian and that is why we have always rejected it here in America regardless of how it's labeled and packaged.

Though a vote for Sanders is thinkable, the same does not apply to Ms Clinton or Mr. Trump.

You don't understand... it's not the people who are inept. It's THE SYSTEM. The same system that was created decades ago and has barely changed through the years... except to double or triple in size... and scope. The same bloated, inept system you want to give MORE control over our lives!

The SYSTEM isn't political. Neither is it affected by elections. At least until Donald Trump. He's causing ripples. ;)

Denmark is a "Democratic Socialist" state, & neither you or anyone else can call it "totalitarian." We could add Sweden, Germany, Norway, & several others in the European area. How do you explain that?

I would agree that there are specific departments that have become inept over time, but I don't agree that we can generalize that charge to all government departments. Some do a very good job--or did, before Trump.

What part of the "system" do you find so offensive, & why?

Let's just say I've had experience in both govt and private business and you wouldn't believe the difference. My opinions are based on things I've observed... not things I've read.

Well said... which is one of the major reasons why I like this idea so much!

Five hundred dollars per Canadian per month, can this work?

I wonder if a desire to make Hillary appear like a knight in shining armour / savour could be one of the reasons why Biden has been chosen so far???????????

Could Oprah replace Biden in this election?

But..... the Biden campaign impresses me as a joke....... and if Hillary somehow seemed to come to the rescue of the Dems........ she seems to be more electable than Biden!

Doubtful. Most of them are really disillusioned. Bernie turned out to be a fraud and no different than any other establishment democrat.
