If there are waiting periods on guns, why shouldn't there be a waiting period on abortion?

No it isnt. Ive bought enough handguns to know the BGC takes a few minutes.

A right is a right. If one can be delayed, so can they all.

(again, I dont think they should be, but this picking and choosing which ones can and cant, based, apparently, on which ones you like more is hypocritical)

Ive bought enough to know that the phonecall to the FBI only takes a few minutes. The wait is a deliberate restriction.

Are hand guns required to be registered in your state?

Screw that, that's welfare state stuff, these kids need to learn self-sufficiency, and they may not have one in my color.

No. WA has mandatory BGCs on all gun sales, so there is prolly a registry by proxy for ALL guns except those owned prior to the law enacted a few years ago. But we are not required specifically to register anything.

WA also waives the waiting period if you have a CCW.

    Abortion isn’t “major” surgery

Quite simple answer....there are consequences for waiting for an abortion. The sooner it is performed. The fewer health risks. Rather then point out that other operations have wait periods, why don’t you ask why they have to have wait periods

Only a man would compare a waiting period on guns to woman having an abortion. Do you really think that women just say oh I think I’m going to get an abortion today. Trust me women think long and hard about this procedure which is both physically and emotionally difficult

Yeah let’s tell somebody in cardiac arrest to wait .lets tell people with appendicitis to think it over (sarcasm alert)

3 days isnt going to matter in most cases. In cases that it does, a doctor could sign off on a waiver for the wait.

Some women in the US have to drive 6 hours to get an abortion. No one drives that to get a gun

Prolly not many get an abortion on a whim. Im sure a few do in emotionally compromising situations. Though not many folks go buy a gun planning to murder someone either, yet we apply a waiting period to all.

It might...and why do you assume she didn’t think it thru? Do you think it is just a little quick decision? Are you aware what an abortion entails? You really sound like you were trivializing women’s decisions

You really are saying that, after all the 'out of state guns' arguments you've made in the past? Folks in NY or CA prolly do travel several hours to buy a gun.

People sometimes act carelessly. Im sure most women consider their options very carefully and ver heartily. But Im also sure that just as a few folks will get mad and go buy a gun, a few will get sad or scared and go get an abortion.

Yup. But not certain ones and not people with certain backgrounds. Its easier to buy a gun in some states than others.

...as YOU have argued in other threads.

But you can get a gun. One state has one abortion provider in the entire state. I wonder how many gun stores they have?

What does this have to do with waiting periods?

If a woman has to drive six hours to get an abortion and then is sent home and has to come back and drive another six hours that is an undue burden

Its no more of a burden than someone trying to get a gun to defend themselves and their family.

BTW, I dont support restricting the availability of guns or abortions. If we made both more available locally to folks, the waiting period would be less of a burden.
