Why weren't they in Europe exploiting ours? As Rwanda and many other examples show, they have no problem being sadistic down there in Africa. So its not because they are nicer.

Not at all. In the 1600's European presence in Africa was limited to a few trading posts. Serious European colonization didn't commence until the last quarter of the 19th C. and decolonization was virtually completed by the 1960's. The first trading post of the Belgian Congo was established by Stanley (Stanleyville) in 1883. The Belgian Congo was granted independence in 1960, so the colonization of the Congo was only 77 years.
Diamonds were first discovered in S. Africa in @ 1865. Gold was discovered in the late 1880's. As to "we whites", you might look into who was involved in turning those discoveries into industries.
