Why for most of history they were women second class compared to men? God didnt just give the man a free pass. We were all put on this earth equal, but the why did man climb to the top? Its only recently man has given power to women because they decided too. If women were so great how come they allowed themselves to become so oppressed for most of history? Like all over the world in every separate developing group its the men that sat at the top. Why were women not capable?

The OP is cracked in logic. The economic value of women, since the beginning of the Modern Technology Age, has increased to equal or even exceed that of men. When economic value was produced by animal and muscle sweat, and the ability of men to use physical violence in the home without public interference, women were relegated to second place. Should a modern apocalypse return us to a decentralized society dependent on coal oil and steam power, women will once again be placed in a subordinate position.

Classic example of an Appeal to Tradition Logical FALLACY! Any educated historian can provide examples where women have outperformed men when the opportunity came their way. The fact that men OPPRESSED women for most of recorded history is nothing for men to be proud of because it demonstrates a lack of critical thinking skills being substituted by mindless brawn instead. What is interesting is that NOW that women are achieving equality it is men who are whining about being oppressed when that is NOT actually happening. Women are mentally stronger than men and always have been.
The record a few cultures where they weren't subjugated. But the reason why I think men governed, men went to war and men built things, is because women had babies. With high infant mortality rates about two centres ago, they probably spend most of their youth either pregnant, nursing babies, or caring for children. It was important for the species. I wouldn't belittle that work, in fact I think it's one of the most important things humans do.

YantOs, please THINK. Women earned their way to equality, in great part by mastering the modern era of economics and profit producing that is not dependent on sweat and muscle. In an era where economic value is measured in man and animal sweat and muscle power, women will lack in civil liberties.
Men create, build, invent e.t.c. women do do this but not many. Lets face if there were no men about civilization would still be in the dark ages. You all know this deep down but will deny it.
