Another excellent choice. If the choice is left to them more female LEO's choose the Glock 19 over any other service weapon. Utterly reliable, excellent price point, high capacity and a simple manual of arms. It requires more training, a holster and carries more than a little bit of liberal angst. The G 19 is the ultimate jack of all trades.
THAT is a typical liberal response. It's based upon feeling and nostalgia and not upon any sense of reality. I appreciate your input.
If I were a liberal, I'd have to be a liberal at the highest level. Therefore I'd be like the greatest American Liberal to have walked the Earth, Barak Obama. That would make me a mostly Black-looking young man from Barak's Chicago Hood. Likely, I'd be in the local pharma trade. I'd want a "9" like my fellow drug employees. Something I could steal, trade for several bags or get without any paperwork for about $200 bucks.
I'm a liberal and I carry a Ruger .380 LCP. It's a very small automatic. It's small because I like to conceal as much as possible. In my other life I was a LEO for seven years in the suburbs of Detroit and it got to where I felt a good degree of comfort in carrying. I still do.
Virtually all of here know what an LCP is. Interesting choice for an ex-LEO. As a back-up or deep concealment weapon I can't fault you one bit, however you are a bit of an outlier. However, the weapon is less than optimal for something such as home invasion. Wouldn't you prefer to move up to something like one of the new single stack 9's? They're not that much bigger but far more effective.
I have a S & W K-38 in my night stand. I've owned it since the early 60's when I was into competitive shooting.
And I replied to his OP with one weapon. My second response was to you as you made a comment that opened the door for my mention of the K-38, don't you think?
I am the OP. I'll take the Ruger LCP. Again, an interesting choice. You're giving up a lot with this weapon and a former LEO, you're atypical as a liberal gun owner.
I have lived a long time without that help, and survived enough Gun Fights, even the ones that should have killed me. So, thats ok.... Thanks, but No thanks.
The tricky part to carrying a 380 is picking the right ammo. My wife carries a bodyguard 380 loaded with precision one jhp's. I'd prefer she carry a 9mm, but I'll settle for the one she will always carry instead of the one she sometimes carry.
I carried a Colt Mustang .380 acp as a B.U.G. and it was considered tiny then, however, since then, comparatively, there are 9 mm models not much bigger or heavier, and considering that 9 mm ammo is cheaper than .380 acp, The choice is obvious.
The way I see it, the difference between a Glock 17 and a Glock 19 is not enough to make me carry the smaller gun. The Khar 9 mm is pretty small, however, as a main battery arm, I prefer a full size sidearm As a B.U.G. a subcompact is best drawn from pocket concealment (wallet holster) to not inform your attacker of your intentions. It should seem you are surrendering your wallet, not drawing a gun.
Sure. I often carry a P09 in a shoulder holster in the winter/fall. I find the shield is versatile for my carry and very concealable if I choose to wear light clothing without a gun belt. Pocket carry, ankle carry, whatever suits my dress. My wife likes the bodyguard for much the same reason. Regardless of what she wears....a dress, shorts, shirts that are tight on the midriff....she has multiple ways of carrying it because it's so light and easily concealable.
I decided against ankle carry after an incident, walking up the steps of a precinct and my S&W snubby was dumped out of its ankle holster, a new Desantis, very embarrasing.
A bunch of uniformed officers, they razed me plenty, the slang term for Detective, was used, and not nicely, and my S&W was scratched. Drawing from an ankle holster is very slow and gives you away.
