I know everyone is going to be caught up on all the other stuff but this also needs to be discussed. Reporters were bribing FBI agents to get information and for all we know influence investigations. The law says a reporter can print leaked information or report leaked information but they cannot solicit it or pay for it in any way shape or form. It appears this was taking place and I wonder if the referrals Wray talked about already being sent to the Office of Professional Conduct include some of this. Then we also need to pressure the agents to disclose which reporters were involved and put them before a grand jury for possible prosecution. Freedom of the Press does not include violating the law to obtain leaked information.

IG REPORT: FBI AGENTS REGULARLY RECEIVED FREE HANDOUTS FROM JOURNALISTS

The Department of Justice inspector general identified a number of instances where FBI employees regularly spoke with members of the media and received a number of free perks from journalists including meals and tickets to various events.

On page XII in the report, the IG says the department “identified numerous FBI employees, at all levels of the organization and with no official reason to be in contact with the media, who were nevertheless in frequent contact with reporters.”

The IG expressed “profound concerns about the volume and extent of unauthorized media contacts by FBI personnel that we have uncovered our review.”

The contact between FBI agents and the media extended to receiving “improperly receiving benefits from reporters, including tickets to sporting events, golfing outings, drinks and meals, and admittance to nonpublic social events.”

In the following paragraph, the IG implies that such benefits could have encouraged various agents to leak information to the press.

“The harm caused by leaks, fear of potential leaks, and a culture of unauthorized media contacts is illustrated in Chapters Ten and Eleven of our report, where we detail the fact that these issues influenced FBI officials who were advising Comey on consequential investigative decisions in October 2016,” the report states.

Sure got a great press in this country. The NY Times reporter was paying a senate staffer with sex for leaks and now the FBI gets free handouts. God only knows what they were handing out to these guys, more of the same?

    Real vile scum, these folks:

3 Takeaways From The IG Report That Seriously Undermine The FBI’s Credibility.

    Here’s one:

Former FBI director James Comey’s actions are roundly condemned in the report. The IG concludes he violated long-standing procedure and policy, and basically did whatever his capricious idealism told him to do. The more you read the IG report, the more obvious it becomes that Comey had absolutely no basis for clearing Hillary.

Page texted Strzok at one point about the possibility of using fewer agents to interview Clinton, since “she might be our next president,” and they don’t want to upset her. (Not that it really mattered, since the investigatory conclusions were reached before the end of the witness interviews). Comey functioned under the same rules.

In the eyes of liberals, Comey’s sin was sending a letter to Congress when new evidence in the server case emerged. But, by that point, Comey had no choice but to tell Congress, which he likely did unilaterally. If the Huma Abedin/Anthony Weiner laptop kerfuffle had been leaked, Comey would have looked like he was actively political.

Would Comey have done the same if he believed Trump had a chance to win? That’s a different story.

Madam President was supposed to return the favor and provide all the cover Comey needed, but she failed.

    You are off-topic:

The IG is forceful in its opinion that the problem with leaking is not “with the FBI’s policy, which we found to be clear and unambiguous.” Instead, the leaking phenomenon “appears to be a cultural attitude among many in the organization.”

According to charts provided in the IG report, one reporter had contact with 12 FBI officials, including an FBI executive and unit chief.

Another reporter contacted an assistant director 21 times and a special agent 23 times, according to the IG. Some FBI employees were in contact with multiple reporters, with one special agent contacting various journalists 32 times.

Such a finding by the IG helps shed light on how various information has reached outlets like CNN or The New York Times throughout the criminal investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. One of the striking findings from the report is how senior officials within the organization had no problem speaking with the media and breaking department policy — and possibly receiving goods in exchange for those crimes.

The leaking phenomenon is an American cultural tradition. For example, the current White House leaks more than any other past administration.

Jimmy the Weasel Comey should be arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and sundry other crimes like the common criminal he is.

Arrogant Andrew McCabe, Peter the Politician Strzok, Lisa Page, and a whole slew of other agents need to be arrested, jailed, and charged with every crime possible.

This calls for a Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization prosecution because these boys and girls turned a federal agency into their private protection racket.

We know this was going on for years because there is a casual, business-as-usual air to the way they conducted their crimes.

In a capitalist society free speech has a price.

99.9% of the information passed has no intrinsic value other than to embellish and validate facts known to the reporter. Otherwise, it would be worth more than sports tickets and bottles of whisky.

If they in anyway inticed, bartered, exchanged gifts or rewards with government officials to get them sensitive information they may be in big trouble. Remember when Maddow got Trump's tax return and there were calls ffor her to be prosecuted? Her only protection was that she was not proactive in getting it. That was also the defens iin the Pentagon Papers.

That is all they have a record of and it alone is bad enough. Do you support further prosecution of those involved including the reporters who were bribing FBI agents or do you think the person doing the bribing should not be charged with a crime?

Exactly. They are selling information to reporters, in fact, on Senate Staffer was getting sex in exchange for felony leaks. Never in our history have we had this nexus of vile scum in control of our vital National Law Enforcement.
